Dick Sotero asks Boehner that he be allowed to give his historic jobs speech at the same time as the republican candidates' long scheduled debate. Boehner says **** off...respectfully.
"For the first time in history, a U.S. House Speaker has publicly rebuffed -- or at least moved to rebuff -- a request from the President of the United States to address a joint session of Congress." think about that
Nothing wrong with this. Both Congressional debate and Presidential addresses are meant for public consumption, not any practical deliberation of the issues. This disapproval or disagreement provides as much information to the public as the actual whateverthehecks they're planning on doing anyways.
"Dick"? How disappointing and childish even for you. Couldn't you even bother trying? How about this "Boehner **** Blocks Barack; Obama attempt to screw Republican Debate stopped." Your thread title isn't even worthy of the NY Post. Its stuff like this that makes me think that you might actually be a liberal out to make conservatives look bad.
Dude, you've seen this moron post threads for what, 10 years? Does anything from him really surprise you?
Is there some clause where the President can b**** slap Speaker of the House for feelings of grandiose? It's sad to see how far the republican party has fallen. Anti science, anti education and some of the worse presidential candidates in the history of the United States.
I'm actually with Boehner on this one. I know for Obama that before Wednesday is no good because Congress isn't in session yet. Thursday's no good because of football. So Wednesday is a natural choice. But, you've got to give the debates some space too.
The people who care about the debates don't care what Obama has to say. The people who care what Obama has to say don't care about the debates. Sooo...
I don't really think this is much of an issue but I don't think a sitting President should take a back seat to a candidates debate happening 5 months before even the first caucus takes place.
why does the speech require a joint session? what's wrong with the oval office, a couple of teleprompters, a backup teleprompter, and easel and some charts, a la perot?
Why does any speech require a joint session? Why can't politicians just write down the gist of it in Facebook?
