NY Daily News if you read it looks to be speculation on the part of the author, but apparently D'Antoni is looking to pilfer Diaw and Barbosa from the Suns in exchange for Marbury's soon to be expiring contract. I did the math and a package of Battier + Jackson + Head would work. From what I have read the two aforementioned Suns are on the outs with Management, and I think Battier (plus two outside shooters) would have Kerr doing backflips... thoughts?
Would be nice....but i think the suns are gonna salivate over Marbury cuz of that 20 mil that'll come off the books in 2009 if they traded for him.
Barbosa on this team would be too good to be true. Marbury in a Suns jersey again? Nash and Marbury? Interesting.
Boris Diaw will make $9 million next season. And the next season. And the next season. And has a player option for $9 million for one season after that. Just pointing that out.
So if the Suns take on Starbury I guess they are officially in rebuilding mode? I guess your shot is over, Stevie Nash. Time to wait for Shaq and possibly Starbury to get out of dodge and rebuild around Amare (oops I forgot that Kerr doesn't like him either) with all that money in two years.
Apart from the fact you'd be lacking about $3m of matching salary, you'd be fortunate if Steve Kerr didn't put you on hold and laugh his arse off.
Did you just call Bobby Jackson a shooter? Did he do something in the offseason like Marvin Harrison? Because I watched every Rockets game this year and did not see this shooter named "Jackson" you are mentioning.
Why do we bother about Diaw or Barbosa? Just let Morey call the Hornets or the Jazz in summer to see if they will trade us Chris Paul or Deron Willams for Bobby Jackson. Hey, Kwame Brown for Gasol happened. So, there is always hope.
from Hollinger's 'chat': Ryan (CT): John, please tell me these Diaw and Barbosa for Marbury rumors are 100% false. If not, what else could the Suns get in return for the garbage that has become "Starbury?" SportsNation John Hollinger: I've heard nothing about this but have had several question about it in the chat. If I'm remembering their contracts right, it wouldn't seem to align with the Knicks' cap space in 2010 strategy. Also, I can't imagine the Suns would ever agree to this.
I wouldn't trade Battier for Barbosa. Barbosa is a product of the system and doesn't make anyone better. I would rather target someone for the MLE or go after the cheaper Ben Gordon. Diaw would look nice in our system but there isn't room for him on our roster.
It's amazing to hear the Suns wanted Marbury back after he was traded out of there years ago. Good luck to the Suns and I am glad we have one contender less to worry about.
