Diablo 3: Will there ever be one?

I doubt it...Warcraft is way too popular for them now, and of course they have to work on the announced Starcraft 2

WoW is where all their money focus is, I don't see why they would continue the Diablo franchise now

 

Once wow dies their next MMORPG will be diablo based.

I would actually think WoW could help promote the advancement of diablo 3.

diablo online play was WoW light( before WoW of course))...well i've never played WoW but thats how it seems.


Diablo 3 could be an amazing game if they took it that extra mile like warcraft did

 

Not for a while I don't think, especially since they're developing Starcraft 2 right now.

 

I wish. diablo was the only game me and my g/f could play for hours together.

its showing its age

yup. Sort of like Counterstrike for online FPS. Nothing lasts at such a high level forever.

a new and upgraded diablo could be just as big as WoW

 

not forever obviously, but I'm just wondering what kind of timeline are you thinking of? I mean like a year or two, or more like 5+ years?

 

I just thought...if WoW was wiped out today, there would be like 2 million people going out into the world for the first time in 5 years...crazy. But then they would find another fake game world to live in and go back to passively having no purpose in life

 

if you're going by number of active subscriptions, I think it's more like 8-10 million

 

I think they basically confirmed Diablo 3 a while back, or at least another Diablo game (Diablo MMO is a popular rumor).

The problem is that they would only confirm that it would be released prior to 2010 IIRC, or something like that.

 

Hopefully. They've released unit information for both protoss and terran, but are still working on zerg.

MMOs have a peak lifespan of about 5-7 years. Most live on in reduced form like Everquest 1. So expect to see rumors for Blizzards next MMO start to pop up in a couple of years. I wouldn't be suprised to see that it's Diablo.
