The pastor of my brother's Houston church is a diabetic. He and his wife are going to participate in a cross-country bike ride (Seattle to Boston-- through Canada, I believe) to raise money for diabetes research.

My Houston brother, his son and my son are wanting to participate and make some kind of documentary film about the trip. My son is a recent college graduate and has made a few films.

They are seeking funding for the project. Does anybody have any connections with people in diabetes research or fund-raising organizations who might point us in the right direction?

Also, athletes who are diabetics (and their teams and leagues) would possibly be good sources as well.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Email me through this board.

On a related note, my little brother is riding his bike from Austin to Anchorage, Alaska this summer as part of the Texas 4000 group at UT Austin. The bike ride is a little over 4,000 miles and the purpose is to raise money for cancer research -- they leave in the first week of June and arrive in Anchorage sometime in August.

You can visit the website, http://texas4000.org/, if you want to donate or learn more about the organization.

Check out Pacific Northwest Research Institute, PNRI. They are a nonprofit I use to work for.
