The DFW area was just hammered by at least 1 tornado that skipped across the entire area from west of Ft. Worth, to possible East Dallas. They're still assessing damage, but the western suburbs were hammered... Haltom City, parts of Ft. Worth, etc. They're still trying to figure out how many tornados cut through here. Grocery stores are missing their roofs, poor people's houses that were barely standing look like they've been hit even harder, etc. Hail larger than baseballs were hitting parts of the city. It's still causing damage east of Dallas. They're saying anywhere from 1-4 tornados may have hopped across the area. Hopefully there were no deaths, but there was some serious damage in at least isolated areas. They probably won't know what all happened until tomorrow - it could be isolated damage or it could be widespread damage based upon hail, winds, and tornado(s).

Anyway, check in on people if you know they live anywhere in the DFW area.

The northern parts of Dallas weren't hit as hard. Haltom City, Bedford, Euless, Hurst, Irving, and eastward was where the worst of it was. They just showed pics of 18 wheelers stacked up on the side of a road, the entire eastern side of a warehouse just pulled away from the entire building by apparently a tornado and fell off... yikes.

Vortex signatures and at least 1 tornado passed to the south of you and to the north of you. You guys were sandwiched, but missed most of the damage. Collyeville and parts of Grapevine were getting hit by hail 2-3" in diameter.

You're not done yet... if you're around in late-July and August, you'll get another dose of Texas weather. If you lived inland in Cali, you may be used to the heat, but if you're used to the coast in Cali, God have mercy on you. :D

I don't mind heat. The snow and freezing rain is what really bothered my sunshine ass.

Anything bad happen around the Denton area? I can't get the weather.com radar to go back far enough.

The worst part is now east of Dallas, but there is still rain coming in from the west. There's a tornado watch until midnight. Low temps tomorrow are in the 30's and highs are in the 50's as this passes through. Crazy.

I don't have much news about Denton, but Denton usually always gets slammed. They may have escaped this time, but I'm not sure. I know they got heavy rains and probably some hail, but not the worst part of it. They're still discovering damage out there. I think they just reported one person died.

I talked to my sister a while ago, she lives in University Park by SMU. She says they had some bad hail, but she hasn't gone outside to check if there was any damage around her.

If it makes you feel better, most of the damage was around the Haltom City area which is further south of Denton. The only thing I'm worried about is how many people were caught in traffic when the storm plowed through. There was one couple that said their pickup was picked up by the wind and tossed into another vehicle while they were in it. They got out and ran into a Minyards grocery store and then that store got torn up. Remind me not to follow them during a storm. Dang.

She fianlly picked up. Slept through the whole thing. Typical.

This storm is the only thing they're talking about on the weather channel.
