I'm really stoked about the new season of Dexter, which starts on September 27. Showtime apparently leaked the first episode, which I watched the other day. From wikipedia: I'm curious to see how they show Dexter juggling married life with kids with his Dark Passenger. Deb is investigating her father's affair, which will eventually lead her to the fact that Dexter and Rudy were brothers. That should be interesting if she figures out Dexter is a killer as well (as she found out in book 1 of the series, which I highly recommend NOT reading). The Lundy angle will be interesting as hell. Could he realize Dexter is the bay harbor butcher and be trying to land 2 serial killers? I think Lithgow will be a really good foil this season as well, and I wonder how Dexter will incorporate that character into his own code.
I enjoy the show, and have read the books, the first was the best. The show does a great job with the source material and I would have to agree the story lines the show has been taking are better than that of the books.
Best TV drama I've ever watched and I can't freaking wait for it to start again. It is literally marked on my calendar.
saw the premiere already and it looks like it can be a great season its out on the interwebz love the show some interesting developments and i think it'll be just as good as the other seasons
I disagree. All 3 seasons were great. Thanks for letting me know about the leak! I am so grabbing it when I get home. Fringe, Californication, Dexter... yay for Fall Series!
Nice to see Lundy (Carradine) back. Good contrast to the Homicide department's social and political dynamic, and another nice re-examination of Deb Morgan's romantic neuroses and basic male/approval issues. I kind of think Carpenter's done the best acting on the show; I just hope her and Hall being married doesn't affect the brother/sister dynamic. I've never really cared one whit about the central concept of the show (I actually feel Dexter is less morally ambiguous than implied), I just think this is a really, really enjoyable Miami cop drama.
I kind of think you are insane to think that. She's always easily been the weakest link on the entire show, in my opinion...and in the opinion of most people I've discussed the show with. I can see how someone might not think she's the worst...maybe...but the best? I am truly amazed.
The only show on tv that remains consistent every season IMO. I can't wait! Should be another great season!
Just watched the first episode of season 4. Spoiler Good stuff. I guess we're stuck wondering if Dexter fully disposed of the body parts in his rush to clean up and make a trip to the pharmacy. Normally he would have, but with this whole sleep deprivation scenario, it's possible that he forgot. Regardless, it'll be fun to see how he deals with the situation. As an aside, is it just me, or does Rita keep getting hotter from season to season...? And speaking of hot, I wouldn't mind a piece of that reporter that's after Quinn.
Spoiler I'm pretty interested how Dexter deals with the sleep deprivation associated with newborns. As the father of a 2 month old, I'm constantly forgetting things that aren't written down, and I'm very slow to react. It definitely is a plotpoint that hits close to home. I think Jennifer Carpenter is an underrated part of that show. Yes, she's a bit crazy and can be annoying, but that's the character. I feel she's done a good job at owning it. Masuka is my favorite character on that show.
i agree with you on jennifer carpenter. i dont know how she does at acting other characters in other shows/movies but i think she does deborah morgan really well. i think ppl just have a natural reaction to play down beautiful actresses especially when theyre the lone hot chick in the show. and we totally overrate the sidekick with the juvenile humor. "...and science, is a cold hard b**** with a 14" strapon"
Totally agreed. Super hot in that innocent, next door wife way. I'm not sure what she did since last season but she is even hotter than before.
Jennifer Carpenter was decent in Quarantine but I cannot stand her character on Dexter. The character just flat out sucks. Nothing real about how she acts or speaks. She is the only weak link in the show.
Just because you don't know anyone that speaks or acts like her doesn't mean it's not realistic. There is a lady in our office that speaks and acts exactly like Deb. The only difference is she's not a cop, she is a payroll specialist. Her favorite expression is F.... me running!
I've been around long enough to know when a character is not realistic and that one certainly is not. I'm super happy for you that you have someone you work who talks like trash but the vast majority of the time educated, professional people don't drop the f-bomb so much it begins to not even make sense.
And it isn't just the language. It's her entire behavior. She basically "goes rogue" every other episode, curses out her bosses and her bosses' bosses and does things that would get a police officer fired. I know it's a TV show but her character is absolutely ridiculous and leaves me wondering why such a clever show would include such a poor character.
