The Astros have been trying to get rid of his this whole off season.

The Cubs are trying to be competitive now.

Will be interesting to see what Houston got for him.

What SP would you be happy with? I don't see a whole lot that excites me on their roster/minors

Also I wonder if this means the Astros have faith in marisnock as the everyday starting CF? And makes them feel better with Gattis or Carter in LF?

Straily also led the Minors with 190 strikeouts in 2012. He was a 24th-round pick of the A's out of Marshall in 2009.

Not unexpected given the impasse with arbitration currently and his upcoming free agency with likely unwillingness to move from CF.... but unless they get another OBP machine in return, this lineup will be temporarily worse.

    Start buying your Marisnick jerseys!

Is Strally projected to be any good?

He's a guy that everyone thought really highly of and he consistently shows flashes but hasn't put it together yet. It might just require some time (or he may never get it). A's also didn't have a lot of flexibility to let him work through issues because they were always in competitive division races.

Ideally, the Astros did some analytic stuff and see something that can be "fixed" like they did with Colin McHugh, but that's most likely the exception rather than the rule.

    3B gets more competition.

Yep... Sounds a lot like Brad Peacock (who I like.... but he may be who he is at this point).

Have the A's ever lost/traded somebody that they ultimately "regret"? (i.e. - traded club controlled players/prospects... not the guys they trade due to upcoming free agency)

Looks like he struggles to keep the ball in the yard from time to time and may have control issues with all those walks. He finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting in 2013 and is not eligible for free agency until 2020 (seeing a trend...).

So, besides Altuve, are we going to have anyone hit over .250?

Springer will... Lowrie could... and I actually think MarGo is going to have a semi-breakout year.
