lol, this is equilavent to putting a muzzle on your dog for a barking problem. This is not going to help with sleep apnea.

I dunno. Some things are psychological. Ya know, like if the person believes it will make a difference when he/she puts it on, then it actually does help the problem.

Yeah, placebo works sometimes. I had a uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP) a year ago and it has basically wiped out my problems although some studies have shown this procedure does nothing for sleep apnea sufferers.

Have you confirmed it wiped out your sleep apnea or just your snoring? The reason I haven't had this done is I want the snoring as a reminder of the real problem.

I never had sleep apnea, my problem was snoring and my uvula would become enlarged and block my breathing and swallowing. The only reason I posted a UPPP surgery is because I know they use that procedure to help people that suffer from sleep apnea.

I don't understand the physics of the device. What causes sleep apnea exactly?

Here is some information on sleep apnea for you: Sleep Apnea Information .

There are tons of other sites, which I am sure you already know, on the subject out there too.

There's a typo in the item entry. It's not CPAP. It's CRAP.

Yeah, I don't see how this contraption would work. It sounds like the air passage becomes constricted, or blocked, and the sleeper stops breathing. No choke reflex kicks in and the sleeper dies. If that's true, the contraption itself looks as though it would actually worsen the condition. If it applies pressure to both the top of your head and the lower part of your jaw that would seem to constrict the passage even more. Especially if you have fatty tissue. I don't get it. Maybe it forces you to breathe thru your nose, so you don't snore, but it looks as though it would actually constrict your passageway rather than open it up. Though I may not just not understand how it works.

It seems a more appropriate deivce would be one that connects your head to a pillow such that your head would always be titled back like during cpr. That way fatty tissue and tonsils can't block the air passage.

I would think people who slept on a sofa would be better off than somone who sleeps on a bed because their head would be propped up more often.
