Is iverson killing their team that much??? They have lost 6 in a row and about to be 7 tonight against miami and they play games next against new orleans, orlando, boston and denver coming up so their losing streak could be at 10..wow never thought they would drop this bad...
I almost started a thread about them last weekend. From early in the season watching a couple of their games, you could see Michael Curry had a major communication problem with the players. I won't make a laundry list of stuff but a big mistake was putting Hamilton on the bench instead of AI. Stupid decision! Curry is a dead coach walking. There are rumors that Dumars has been pulling strings with player rotation choices. Whatever the case, their team is hopeless. Having Rip Hamilton on the floor late in the 4th quarter when they were down ~25 points against the Cavs on Sunday was complete garbage. No class.
I agree that was wrong vs the cavs. I think they shoulda kept stuckey on the bench for 1 more year, its really not that big a deal. It's not like stuckey can develop anyways when AI has the ball all the time
I think Stuckey was ready and has been hindered by the discord on the team. Too many strong-willed veterans and a head coach nobody likes. Putting a ballhog like AI next to him in the starting lineup was just plain nutty. There is no excuse for that whatsoever. Stuckey (just in his 2nd year) is NOT the kind of PG you put next to AI. On the other hand, Stuckey has never had a problem playing with Rip Hamilton.
he would be great in this system. maybe after they let iverson walk they'll trade rip for tmac's ending contract this summer. that would get them far enough under the cap to offer 2 max deals in 2010
maybe it's because stuckey is overrated. I mean yea he's good and is a possible future star but right now? He's only a role player such as rondo but with a better j
I feel like the Detroit situation is very similar to what was going on in Phoenix. Curry came in with a different coaching philosophy than Flip, and his implementation of his offensive and defensive scheme doesn't match with the players he has. You can't expect Iverson to be a playmaker when his entire career is based on his ability to score. Stuckey has not yet developed in to the calibur of player of Chauncey and Rasheed has resorted to jumpers instead of his strength in the post. I think once Curry is removed the team will be fine. The roster is too deep and experienced to plummet much more in the standings. How can a team with Iverson, Sheed, Prince, McDyess, Amir Johnson and other vets being doing so poorly?
Billups was their soul and backbone, now that he's gone, they are just another team with decent players. Billups was their clutch guy, play caller, play maker. He did everything for them. They probably dont trust A.I. that much yet to believe in him like they did in Billups.
i've been saying this all year. why cause chemistry issues by starting him and choosing either AI or rip to bench? makes no sense. both of those guys should start over stuckey. and benching stuckey wasn't even an option? gimme a break. now, i dont think that they will fire curry this year no matter how bad it gets. why? because dumars knows they are going to rebuild. it's going to get a bit worse next year before they can rebuild in 2010.
