Despite winning tonight, Rockets are still unwatchable

As a Rox fan, I would love to see them beat out Phoenix and get into the playoffs and get some valuable playoff experience.

However, as a basketball fan in general I would not want to see the Rox in the playoffs. Why? Because they are painful to watch. Too many ISO's, too many mental mistakes, and too many bone-head decisions made by the head coach.

    I couldn't agree more.

I still can't believe that I am still a rocket fan and would still watch their ugly games everytime they are televised.

Something tells me the a lot of Yao ISO's in the post would be smart basketball and perfectly watchable to this guy.

I agree, especially after watching college basketball. Maybe it's just pro sports, I don't know. I'd rather see a random college game than a rather nfl game these days.

No league pass next year. Rockets have talented players, but that was just a sad scene at the Compaq Center. Maybe it will be better next year.

I have said this many times before, if the Rockets make the playoffs, these thing happen:

    1) Get embarrased by Dallas in 4 games,

    2) No major changes for next year because the Rockets think that they can grow from the playoff embarassement as they consider themselves as a "real" playoff team.

    3) Fast forward to next year: new arena, new uniforms, but same old iso, iso, no team ball.

    4) Compete with Utah for the last playoff spot

    5) Clutch BBS has the same conversations next year.

I would like to see the Rockets in the playoffs as a fan, but there will be more long term benefit to this team if they don't make it, (i.e. major changes to the way this team is structured from top to bottom).

Our hands are tied as far as changes right? No salary room and no draft pick.

Uprising, can't believe you still didn't realize that most of people here watch Rox because of YaoMing.

If Yao get traded out of Houston, who care how the Rox play ball game.

People follow Rox play not because Rox play beautiful basketball, it is because of YaoMing, understand???

THANK YOU!! That's exactly what I thought when I read this thread topic. Just don't watch the games if it's so painful to watch.

That's a dumb idea - "Just don't watch the games if you don't wanna watch."

The central point of this whole thing is the Rockets need to improve their offensive system. There's a reason why some people think we are unwatchable - b/c our offense is crappy - too much standing around, too little lack of passing, etc.

Thats like the ostrich who sticks its head under the ground when it sees a predator coming... just ignore the problem, great idea!

... meant to say "too little movement, lack of passing"

You know, it's funny how some people automatically assumes that a person's not a Rox fan when they start/agree with a topic like this.

A non-Rocket fan would never bother to start this sort of a topic. Because it would NOT bother a non-fan when the Rockets play ugly basketball. They can easily turn off the TV or switch to another channel, without feeling any agony.

All you guys with the 'If they are so unwatchable, then don't watch them' are missing the point entirely.

Do you guys honestly enjoy watching the Rockets ISO 75% (or more) of their half-court sets? Do you enjoy EG continually jacking up bricks 23 feet away from the basket? How bout Cat being selfish and ignoring wide open teamates? I sure as hell dont.

I want them to win as much as any other Rockets fan, but it's painful watching them lose games the same exact way time after and time with no hint of actually learning from their mistakes. We're now at game #73 and we are discussing the exact same problems at game #3.

A Non-Rockets fan wouldn't care to make this post because he/she simply doesnt' care.

BTW - When they do play like crap, I do change the channel for stress related reasons. It's like watching your best friend repeatedly try to run through a brick wall and there's you can do to stop it.

I've got to admit that it's probably good for my health that I don't live in Houston anymore. Two days in a row (the LA and SA games) almost killed me.

WEll face it then!!! Watch the games if you must! if you want to watch just yao, then have some one cover up the rest of your screen! Dont complain, it's so damn annoying.

Yao is here for a few years! So you have no choice, unless you do something like i mentioned above, or stop watching the games, the you will have to be an audience to "unwatchable rockets" .

hmmm....i am being attacked for telling '02 and '03 members to not watch....

Wonder why. Yao is here to stay for a few years, so dont bother complaing about something so trivial.

Hasn't the Rockets offensive system always had the same boring, unimaginative, unwatchable, iso driven offense since the championship years? Only back then it was iso down low to Dream, Charles or Drexler.
