Can someone enlighten me please? While watching the Rockets/Clippers game I became intrigued by their center Chris Kaman whom I knew nothing about and of whom I kept hearing positive commentaries. I went to Sportsline to do a quick stats inquiry of him and came upon the "centers" ranking page. I was dumfounded to see Yao ranked at #9 and of who happened to be ranked higher. I mainly focused on Kaman since he was the one I was inquiring about in the first place. Kaman has a small edge in FG% over Yao, but apart from that Yao has better stats in every other category, yet he is ranked #5. http://www.sportsline.com/nba/playerrankings/regularseason/C What gives? I'm trying to be objective but.....or have I become a YOF?
Each game counts according to their calculation. Yao missed 21 games this season and that was the reason his ranking is low on their chart. Shaq missed a big chunk of games last season and he was not even in top 10 after he came back. Also look at where Shaq is right now on the list.
True. With the kind of season that camby was having before the injury, you'd think he would be #1 on the list. But because of the missed games, he's at 7.
"C'mon Mar, I was in a wierd place." I was at a sports bar in Austin watching us play the Clips and the table behind me was making fun of his appearence relentlessly. I felt so bad, everytime they'd show a close-up of him I couldn't stop laughing.
Some people (in this case me) aren't concerned with the rankings per se after all you are what you are, but in the idea that one of the players on your team in (this case Yao) is being slighted! Opinions become peceptions and perceptions become stigmas! I'm a Houston Fan (Rockets,Astros,Texans) and it matters to me when someone belittles our teams for no apparent reason, and that is the reason I started the thread. I asked a question and I appreciate everyone who tried to answer this question.
