Should be the first pick in the draft. He'll be a better pro than Beasley. I see a lot of Jason Kidd in him.
Because he is a big, athletic PG, Rose may have more of an impact in the NBA down the line. But Beasley can do it all at PF and the sky is the limit. He will be the first player taken. He was better this year than Durant was last year. If the Rockets had the #1 pick, I'd take Rose.
Beasley's a bit of a match-up nightmare, in that in today's NBA, he could probably play anywhere from the 3 to the 5 and take players inside and outside depending on match-ups. But if I had to bet which player will take his team to a title first - it'd be Rose.
Beasley is plenty strong and athletic at PF in the NBA. At 6'10, 235, he is the perfect weight for a 19 year-old NBA rookie who will grow into a monster. I don't get your comment on his athleticism because he has plenty.
beasley looks like the typical great college player who doesn't translate. a lot like big dog robinson
He's bigger and more mobile than Big Dog, and even then - Robinson was a 20 points a game guy for his career and a part of the only good Bucks teams in recent memory.
is he really 6'10? for some reason he looks closer to 6'8 to me, but then again I still think landry is 6'7
Both would be worthy of the #1 pick. Both are great talents that will do well in the NBA. Not sure about the negative comments on Beasley. The kid can already do so many things well and he'll only get better and possibly bigger.
glenn robinson might be the best college player i've ever seen. Even as a pro, he was "good", a borderline all-star type of player. He just ate himself out of the league. But in his prime, you certainly could do a lot worse.
I don't think beasley's a legit 6'10" either, more like 6'8" at best. that's why mainly why i don't think it will translate to the pros.
Do you think the Rockets would be looking to draft a PG as their first pick or are we satisfied with Brooks being out future? I think most PGs will be out by the time we are the board, and the best case scenario would be like a Drew Neitzel...
His athleticismn and explosiveness is somewhat overrated; he's more of a very fluid and agile athlete with above average explosiveness, but he's nowhere near the freak athlete Rose is. D-Rose is the real deal.
Beasley has crazy athleticism, but he knows how to play withing himself and play calmly. The guy could probably play small forward like Carmelo or play power forward or center like Amare. <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/70ttB8P0lT4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/70ttB8P0lT4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
On pure athleticism, Rose is a freak and Beasley is not. But Beasley's offensive skills and instincts are very developed and NBA ready. He is unselfish, a very good passer and doesn't have to dominate the ball. He will fit in and do well wherever he plays. If Rose develops a reliable jumper, the sky is the limit. Even without that, he will be a great NBA player.
I expect the Rockets management to pick the BPA. When you have a low 1st round pick, that's the most sensible thing to do.
I think it's safe to say Rose is making the most out of his NCAA Tournament/NBA audition experience. This kid looks incredible out there.
