Give me Rose. I think he is going to explode this coming season as a dominant offensive player. On the other end of the floor, I'm hoping Tom Thibadeau gets Rose to raise his game. Can't get Rondo's complete lack of confidence on offense at times in the playoffs out of my mind. When a player can't shoot and is also afraid of getting fouled, that's a significant flat tire to an offense. Rondo is great, but his inability to make jumpers and hit FTs is a lid on his potential. Rose will also improve more over last season than Rondo. Book it.
i think rondo gives you too many stats across the board for him not to be the better pg AND better player. It's only up for debate later on if Rose develops into a killer scorer around 30 pts a game or increases his other numbers/shooting %.
I pick Rondo. Lackluster finals performance...but carried the Celts as far as he could. ....but I believe D. Rose will pass have a breakout season and be mentioned with CP3/D-Will.
Rondo: Pros: Excellent composure. Great defense. Long arms. Excellent rebounder. Great passer. Cons: Poor jumpshooter. Not an offensive player. His presence on the floor makes his defender slack off and help defense on other people. Rose: Pros: Great offensive player, good height. Dazzling offensive moves, extremely quick. Scorer's mentality. Cons: Average defense, poor three point shooter. Plays more like a 2-guard.
when next season starts, rose will be a top 3 PG, just behind deron and paul. in another year, rose might challenge for top PG. now he just has to put it all together: he has the offense, jumper, defense, playmaking... let's see a superstar in the making
It will be interesting to see Rose play with his new teammates this year. I would think his assists will go up and number of shots will go down. The big questions are: can he improve his efficiency and excel at Thibodeau's defense?
Right now, on a loaded team, give me Rondo. On a mediocre team, give me Rose. Rondo is the better playmaker, which is why he's so valuable to the Celtics. Rose has a scorer's mentality which is why his shooting stats look like they should be beside a Kobe Bryant or Joe Johnson (12-25, 11-22, 10-21). If Rose can up his playmaking game, then I don't think Rondo will have any edge on him. I think the question will soon be Wall or Rose. I like Wall over Rose, personally. Obviously there's no evidence to back that up yet so it's just a feeling.
I think in 2009 Rose outplayed Rondo by a smug and both improved since .. Rondo's improvement is more noted of because his team has done better ..
Rose!!! He's my favorite player outside of the rockets. The dude is of a different species like LeBron (love him or hate him but he's a beast). In that USA practice game Derrick Rose finished at the rim with just two dribbles from about halfcourt while being defended... tragic
