We don't need a small forward, we have Shandon, who will have to play the 3 to accomodate Mobley.

This is great, I really want to see how Dermarr does. Dermarr is a guy that causes matchup problems for players. A 6'9 shooting gaurd that can play 3 positions. Point, sG, sf. If drafted here, he will shift to the SF. I compare him to a taller Larry Hughes with a better shot.

If you guys would really look at the draft and the needs of the Rockets, you would see that the guy for Houston is
DeMarr Johnson. And I'll give reasons why:
    1. He a true 6'9
    2. He can shoot the ball
    3. He can handle the ball
    4. He's only 20 yrs old
    5. He has major college playing experience
    6. He played for a coach that stressed "D"

Talk about helping in the frontcourt. This allows Houston a multiple of combinations. He could slide into the
backcourt with Steve or Cuttino or he could play the 3 while Steve, Cuttino and Shandon rotate. He'll definitely
contribute before Darius would. Not knocking Darius's ability but let's keep it real, KG was the only High Schooler
that came into the league and took respect from everyone else. Kobe has finally gotten to that level after four
years. He has only played against high school players. Everyone in college was the star of their H/S team. DeMarr
played on the #1 Team in America. He was Tested night in and night out. That's why he's the better fit. Oh, by
the way Cincinnati would have won the Nat'l Chmpionship had Kenyon not gotten hurt.

I dont really understand what Darius has that Demarr doesn't. Both are tall, athletic as hell, good ball handlers, etc. MAYBE?? Darius will have a higher ceiling and he might be more adept at driving to the basket, but his shot and experience are definitely worse than Johnson's at the moment.

Why trade up for Miles when we might be able to draft Johnson at the 9??

We absolutely need a tall SF.

Steve and Cuttino are small guards, and we will have trouble matching up with big guards.

That is why SA starts at the 2.

My point exactly, why trade up for Darius. I really don't think that He has that much of an upside than DeMarr. I really see DeMarr having the same effect that Paul Pierce had on the league 2 yrs ago. Alot of teams regret that they let him slip to Boston and I think teams will feel the same pain by letting DeMarr pass.

DerMarr is who I think the Rockets will draft. He can play 3 positions and can create matchup problems with opponents. But, despite playing at Cincinnati, I hear his defense isn't all that good.

I think DJ's defense was maybe slightly below average. But things to look at are defensive potential. That means, do you have the physical tools to do it, which he definitely does-quick, with long arms, and tall, and very athletic. Some motivation, and he's great. Another complaint on him, is the fact that he sometimes "fades". Sort of gets lost in the shuffle. But, to his defense, he wears a cool headband [IMG]. It'd be tough if we had only #9 and hypothetically Moiso and DJ were the 2 players left. It'd be close. IF we had #9, and Detroit gave us #14, I'd draft DJ at #9, then nab Etan Thomas at #14.

For my money..it's Moiso or Dermarr. Moiso could be a 4, because I'll take Walt if he plays like he did in the second half of the season. The Gizzard is not gonna be around forever, and Shandon is not the answer at 3. Not to slight ANderson because I really like him, but Dermarr could easily be a really good 3.

OK, I've said before in other threads that I think Johnson has a huge upside and that we should take him over Moiso. I still believe that.

However, I was curious to see what Johnson did when Kenyon Martin went down and Cincy needed players to step up. Here are Johnson's stats in the last 3 games of Cincy's season (including the St. Louis game in which Kenyon played 3 minutes.)

    St. Louis 68 Cincy 58

    Johnson 23 min 2-8 FG 6 pts (4 fouls)

    Cincy 64 NC Wilmington 47

    Johnson 31 min 6-15 FG 13 pts

    Tulsa 69 Cincy 61

    Johnson 34 min 2-9 FG 6 pts

Not exactly a player stepping up to fill the void ...

Of course, we all know that statistics are only a half-truth. I didn't see any of Cincy's last 3 games. Anyone out there see these games and care to shed some light on how Johnson responded when Kenyon went down?

I think it would tell us a bit about what kind of inner fire Johnson has ...

We need a PF more then a SF. Kenny is not our answer at the 4 position, honestly I think Carlos would be better at the 4 then Kenny. I know we could be drafting for talent instead of needs if we want to trade up but I think Moiso is who we should be after at #9. If it's true Rudy likes him and thinks he would be a good fit then I'm with him all the way!!!!

Ok since I am a big Cincinnati fan, I will tell you how Dermarr is. First of all, the guy is a tall and athletic player. He can shoot the ball, drive inside and just has a fun game to watch. The thing is, right now he is only 20, he doesnt have that much knowledge of basketball. Just wait till a couple years once he learns, Dermarr will be a great player.
