Fisher Hinting at Rox Didn't see this covered elsewhere, but I was just watching the Lakers summer league game on NBA TV with a protracted Derek Fisher interview. He strongly hinted that he was leaving the Lakers for a situation that he felt could provide a "similar situation" that he had with Kobe and Shaq with a an opportunity to win in the near future and down the road. He said he came to the game to see Luke Walton and Kareem Rush to wish them well cuz "you never know what might happen in the next 48 hours...you just might not get a chance to see these guys again." The hometown Laker commentators were speaking to him in a somber tone as if they already knew he was leaving. Fisher will be a great addition to the Rox...he'll make this a truly smart team with his experience and intangibles. He's the perfect on-court extension of everything JVG wants from his team. He'll also be a great entry passer with Yao...he knows how to zip it in at just the right moment that his target is free. On the Lakers he always looked to Shaq down low before anything else, even passing up an open Kobe to wait for Shaq to get position...imagine that!
Thanks beyao..and I sorta agree with Dr. Basketball. Derek Fisher 24/Tyronn Lue 24/Mike Wilks TMac 36/Piatkowski 14/Gaines Jimmy Jackson 34/Nachbar/Griffin Juwan/Mo/Spoon Yao/ Derek Fisher is fine with me! Hopefully we don't give him too much money...reasonable hopefully lol. We do need a backup center. And I hope the Rockets can somehow upgrade their lineup more through free agent signings or trades..maybe using the TE. There are many possibilities. I would just like to get solid role players who can shoot, play defense, rebound...etc... I wonder if Nachbar is ready yet...I think he is and I hope he plays well this season. I would like to get someone like Eric Williams or Bruce Bowen. I think they want some money though. They could play about 30 minutes off the bench. Pike would be a 3rd string player..with Boki and Reece..
so he hints at comming here right after talking to rudy....i wonder exactly where rudy talked him into signing
Well I guess Fisher will be okay. He's got the playoff experience and is a great locker room guy. I just hope we don't break the bank for him. But the way this offseason is going, that doesn't seem possible.
Only if Yao becomes as bad at showing on the pick n roll as Shaq. I don't see that happening under JVG.
