Woman Attacked At ATM, Assailant Scratches "B" into her face. [rquoter]PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, apparently because of her political views, police said. According to WTAE's news exchange partners the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Ashley Todd, of College Station, Texas, was using an ATM at Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street in Bloomfield just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday when a man approached her and put a knife to her throat. Police spokeswoman Diane Richard said the robber took $60 from Todd, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said. The Tribune reported that Todd, who isn't familiar with the area, drove to a friend's house and together the pair located the Citizens Bank ATM at Liberty and Pearl where the attack happened and called police. Todd declined to comment to the Tribune. Friends said she is in Pittsburgh volunteering for the McCain-Palin campaign. Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras. The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes. The Obama-Biden campaign released a statement, commenting on the attack. The statement said "Our thoughts and prayers are with the young woman for her to make a speedy recovery, and we hope that the person who perpetrated this crime is swiftly apprehended and brought to justice." The McCain-Palin campaign also released a statement saying "The McCain campaign is aware of the incident involving one of its volunteers. Out of respect, the campaign won't be commenting. The campaign also confirms that Senator McCain and Governor Palin have both spoken to the woman."[/rquoter]
If she was in fact assaulted for being a McCain volunteer, that is abhorrent and beneath contempt. Someone defaced my Obama sticker this week on my car at work, and I was seriously pissed, I can not imagine how she feels.
"Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras." I wonder Why she refused Treatment? [I guess she may not have insurance. . or people would ask more questions . . .or she needs the universal health plan that her 'guy' doesn't approve of] I guess the robber was a very bright guy . . cause be put the B on her face in such a way that it would like right in a mirror but not to someone facing her. Rocket River
So... We have someone comparing this to a bumper sticker being vandalized ( ), and another trying to delve into her reasons for refusing medical treatment and giving credit to the attacker as "very bright" ( ). Disgusting. Stay classy D&D!
Here's her picture on drudge. Forgive me if I am suspicious of the backwards "B" and the lightness of it since it was done with a mugger with a knife and wait for the police investigation report. This election has make me very cynical.
No, Iroc, i was not saying they were in any way equal. I was saying i was quite pissed about a very minor bumper sticker episode, and therefore I can not imagine how that woman feels being physically attacked, probably very very violated, and she is right. I called her attack abhorrent and beneath contempt.
Oh, come on! The girl was likely on the ground, and the idiot thug took the position from above her head. Sheesh.
I too am changing my vote. If Obama has one single insane supporter, I cannot support him. This has also cancelled my possible support for McCain, Parr, and especially Nader. I am writing in my own name. I have zero true supporters, and therefore no insane ones. (Yes, I do not support my own candidacy, even though I will vote for myself.)
that picture makes me wanna kick the crap outta someone I think it is likely she was on the ground and he was above her. You grab her from behind then take her to the ground the B would be in the correct orientation. I seriously doubt a girl carved into her face and gave herself a black eye.
I actually don't put my political views open to everyone because of crap like that. I'm afraid if I put a sticker on my car, someone might vandalize it some how, same with a sign in my yard. I also don't like talking to them around people I don't know very well because a strong liberal will attack me for my beliefs and treat me like an idiot and a strong conservative will talk about how Liberals are r****ded and that we should all hate Obama. I hate people who don't like to talk about individual policies and how they personally feel about them. Why does someone have to agree with their candidate on everything and disagree with the other candidate. The number one reason that I am voting McCain at this point, is I don't feel comfortable with the democrats controlling both congress and the White House. I think we would actually be best served by a Republican Congress and a Democratic President. More checks and balances that way.
how did she pull off the black eye and what is the motive? Many people have already stated without being asked it will not change their vote.
