    on dion and baxter:

They have both shown they can play at an nba level. Dion can really drive the ball hard and get to the paint is doing an outstanding job. On Lonnie Baxter he is a winner they tried to get winners with this summer league squad. Lonnie is a force and can collect his body well at 6'7 270 a loose comparison to charles barkley as he can finish with both hands. Lonnie is an underated shooter and can make the 16 or 18 footer. The rockets feel they both can be in the league.

Stromile: He can not really comment on him league rules. He did say his jumping ability and athletic ability are great assets.

Badiene: they are excited about him he is very active. The coaches came to lindsey and are happy with his performance. they are excited about him because hes 6'11' and has gained 18 pounds his standing reach is 9 foot 7 yao is 9 foot 4 and he has progressed nicely and he is only 21 a good young asset.

Free Agents: after using the mle what else will they do? The rox are still open to sign and trades and they are willing to make more moves you constantly look to improve. They have 6 guys in last year of their contracts and they have two smaller trade exceptions. From the calls they recieve from agents and players they are a very attractive place to be. Players love JVG, the city, toyota center, and the chance to play with yao and tracy for the open shots.

all i got...and it's not word for word.

does spending MLE lower the chances of making other moves via S&T?

DL - no. we are allways looking to imporve. we have ending contracts, LLE, TE's, there can be things to come. just from calls comming in from agents and players we thing we are an attractive situation.

I came in at about 10:20 and Lance asked about other moves and Lindsey said they are definately still open to making more moves and that they still have a piece of the trade exception and expiring contracts that look attractive. Plus NBA players want to come to Houston because of the "attractive" situation with T-Mac and Yao and the no state income tax.

I forgot about the remaining piece of the TE. But isn't it only worth about a million? Not sure how much good that does anyone.

Makes me smile a bit, that last part; seems part of my pitch to prospective out-of-state candidates (I'm an IT recruiter): What's that? Your client has an offer from NJ? So what? He's their 2nd or 3rd option, I can guarantee you that. Anyway, he'll make more money here, and we both know that. On paper he might not look as sexy, but take the cost of living in New Jersey compared to here, and add in the fact that NJ is an OK team in the East, and he can help make the Rockets a great team in the West---the Rockets, mind you, his favorite team when he was growing up---and we have no state income tax here, and we can extend him when the time comes, so he's looking at a potential of, say, essentially, a 9 year-contract.... But he's gonna have to want it, and work hard, because we're thinking championship, not just making the playoffs.

We had a TE for 2.4 mil which expired June 30th, and we still have two more for 1.1 and 1.3 mil.

(I posted a link to the Houston Chronicle article that stated this, but the story appears to have been placed in their archives, which requires a Chronicle subscription.)

That "small" amount goes a lot further when you have veterans without a title(who have already made serious jack) screaming at their agents,"I want to be in Houston".
Toss in the tax,the city, the organization....We are dealing from a position of strength.

If you are referring to the Cabaret, I believe you will find it no longer exists. At least not under that name.

I think Rocketlaunch reversed the reach stats , it was Yao 9'7" and Bads 9'4"
He was emphisizing how long Bads was saying his reach was only 3" less than a man half a foot taller than him (but we all know Yao has gater arms)

7'4'' gator arms. In proportion, his arms are short, but that's still a monster wingspan.
