Boring Interview, he basically said that this draft is deep at all five postions. He thinks the Rockets will get a good player. He said that a lot of teams lie about who they like. Rockets will not be scared to draft a high schoolar.
Interesting... This seems to contradict what Dawson just said in the Channel 2 interview. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=1898256&postcount=6 Well at least they are keeping everyone off balance, I hope it works to our advantage on Tuesday night. Thanks for both of the recaps Rikesh.
I'm glad to hear this. I would not mind them grabbing Blatche or someone if they dropped. The big SG might slip. I did a cursory rundown of all the NBA team to see which teams have not participated in the early entry sweepstakes (meaning a HS player or a recent college freshman/sophomore). Those who MAY HAVE by my recollection: Dallas (was Dirk 19 when they drafted him?) Memphis (Pau was only 20 or so but certainly an unknown quantity) NY (barely-- Trevor Aziza (?) was a 19YO second -rounder) San Antonio-- heavy on the Euros (and TParker was 19 I think) Those who HAVE by my recollection: Atlanta (Josh Smith?) Boston (Kendrick Perkins? from Beaumont) Chicago (Curry and Chandler) Cleveland (LeBron and DeJuan Wagner and DaSagna Diop) Denver (Carmelo) Detroit (Darko) Indiana (Al harrington) LA CLippers (Shaun Livingston) LA Lakers (Kobe) Milwaukee (TJ Ford) Minnesota (Garnett and Marbury) New Orleans (Baron Davis and JR Smith) Orlando (Dwight Howard) Phoenix (Stoudamire) Portland (Telafair and Randolph) Seattle (Rashard Lewis) Toronto (Tracy McGrady and Bosh) Utah (DeShawn Stevenson ... Andrei Kirilineko) Washington (Kwame Brown) Those who have NOT done so by my calculation: Charlotte (one draft though) Golden State Houston (does Boki count? wasn't he already 23 when drafted?) Miami New Jersey Philadelphia Sacramento <><><><><><><><><><><><><>><> Of the group who has not participated, only Sacramento has been consistently good over the past decade. Miami got good when they got Shaq this year and New Jersey got good for a brief while. Seems like we ought to roll the dice a little more.
THANKS GUYS! I had finally managed to forget Eddie Griffin and now you go and bring him up!!!!!!!!!!!! You're absolutely right-- I completely forgot about him.
You could remember Malick Badiane instead, 19 when he was drafted. You missed a bunch more examples Boston picked up Al Jefferson last year. Indiana was way ahead of the drafting HSers curve in drafting Jonathan Bender (and trading for the Portland drafted Jermaine O'Neal) NY drafted Maciej Lampe at 18, not just Ariza. Dallas drafted 18 year old Pavel Podkolzine last year. For Philadelphia, Iguodala was a sophomore when he was drafted. As was Dalembert. Golden State drafted an 18 year old in Biedrins last year. New jersey picked up Krstic when he was 19 (though he stayed overseas).
I know Griffin's been mentioned already, but I think giddyup, like alot of us would rather forget about that. On the other hand, how could you have forgotten about us drafting Rashard Lewis straight out of Alie...., awww crap, I forgot we were all set to take him but our first three choices(all solid as a rock) were still there and we couldn't close the deal to acquire another first round pick that year. Darn it!! The fourth time would've been the charm, too.
Two Names: Troy Murphy and Richard Jefferson They would have looked good on our team instead for Smokin' Eddie. Sorry guys just had to vent and get it out!
Yep. He tried to kill himself and last I heard he was in houston working with John Lucas, but this was a few years ago, maybe around 2001 or so but I'm not sure.
Sacramento drafted Peja Stojakovic at the age of 21, and Gerald Wallace at 19. Hedo Turkoglu was also 21 and the first player ever from Turkey (according to nba.com).
http://www.nba.com/heat/roster/ He's not listed here... I remember the guy. I can't find their IR roster; he must be stashed there.
