Dennis Lindsey, the Rockets Director for Personnel, was on ESPN Radio this morning (New York). He said that the Rockets were very pleased with the draft and got the players that they wanted. Other stuff that he spoke about was the same stuff that we have heard over the weeks, on the strengths of Ming and Nachbar etc.

An interesting note was that Michael Goldberg did not receive the letter of clearance from the CBA on Wednesday morning. Lindsey said that all Goldberg received a fax on Wednesday morning from the CBA that stated the letter was in the mail and the Rockets would get it soon! He also said that the Rockets would have drafted Ming regardless – something we all know.

The interviewer (whose name I did not catch) once again brought up the myth that Rockets would have a hard time considering that neither Ming nor Nachbar speak English. At that point I noticed a sense of frustration in Lindsey’s voice and he very forcefully went on to explain that both Nachbar and Ming speak and understand perfect English. He said that Ming’s command of English was so good that Rudy and CD could share American humor with Ming. Lindsey then asked the interviewer how could anyone converse using local American humor unless they spoke perfect English. All the interviewer could say was “Wow!”
Lindsey did also say that this supposed language barrier is a myth, which led to silence from the interviewers.

Thats my scoop for the day!
