I listened to it and wrote it down, but others can add to it if I missed anything in the notes.

    Dennis Lindsey
-still scouting for 2006-07 season for players on other teams
-scouting D-League for players now or next season
-possible players that they are looking at but nobody was named
-haven’t heard rumors on Sprewell but he isn’t the one to really ask, you would have to ask Jeff about him
-already scouting the NCAA tournaments, he will be out to scout them later in the week
-they still need to evaluate Vasilis Spanoulis, what he will command on the market if he were to come over and what other players are out there that they can get for the MLE
-his opinion on Jon Barry is that they want some type of relationship with him in someway if he doesn't sign with someone else
    - the injury in a may have had an affect on him being released and then they were trying to get minutes for Luther and Keith which would leave Jon with little minutes
    - Jon is talented in many ways and he has to decide what he wants to do
    - he could be a scout, commentator, coach, whatever he wants because he has such a great basketball mind

    Bill Worrell
    - disagrees with Jeff about the team and their way of competing
    - AI and Chris Webber seemed to have every touch down the stretch while Mac and Yao had two shots down the stretch
-probably lost 6 to 7 games because of last two minutes of the game due to bad execution
-doesn’t really know what is affecting Mac this year, doesn’t seem to have the look like he did last year for some reason
-has noticed that TMac’s body language hasn’t been that good for about two weeks and it may have been due to the personal problems
-Mac isn’t getting the shots that he had been getting before for some reason or another
-Jon seemed to have been a little upset with getting cut
    - Jon and Jeff really do like and respect each other from what had been observed
    - could have used Jon last night down the stretch because they were bricking things even if he would have been rusty
-didn’t believe that the team was good enough to let Jon go to another team
    Back to top

Great info. Thanks for the recap,SNKT. That was a interesting observation about AI/Webber and Yao/T-Mac in the endgame.

Thanks for the recap, I heard parts of it. Bill Worrell is a GREAT interview if you're a Rockets fan. He is always honest and doesn't sugarcoat things, says what he feels and sees, and always has very good observations; the best Rocket-related personality I like to hear on radio when I want serious analysis from a vantage point of someone who's there every night and is around the team/players on frequent basis.

I felt like today he was a bit down on JVG and DW, I could sense it form his tone.

BTW, since we all know the Rox Insider segment on SR610 is held the same time every Thursday (5 pm), could someone cap the audio for us on consistent basis for those who miss it?

BTW, Jon Barry was on earlier today as well, I didn't get to hear it sadly and I wish someone had it because I wanted to hear his first interview after being waived. :(

Anyways, JB said he will let them (the SR610 guys, John and Lance) what he plans on doing when he does the show on Monday (he's almost always on in the 9am hour, so a sufficient heads-up for those interested in tuning in).

I really hope he stays on the team at some capacity, maybe a shooting coach? Didn't Coach Nelson have like 9 assistant coaches including Rolando Blackman, who by the way DOESNT get as much props as he deserves, as their shooting coach?

Bill Worrell sounds like he is reading this board.

Is the team quitting on JVG?

    You have to wonder.

Nice to see our play by play legend criticizing Van Gundy. I think it's deserved.

I don't like JVGs decision-making at all. He plays the wrong players at the wrong times. He is not as good as Rudy T when it comes to matchups. And then he blames the players after every game.

I think if Rudy T were the coach of this team, we'd have a better record right now.

JVG's reliance on Juwan Howard especially really ticks me off.

    Thanks for the recap.

Any chance Jon B tries to play one more season with the Rox next year? I know he is older but if he can stay healthy and bring that outside shooting, high basketball IQ, intensity and passion it would be worth bringing him back.

ZERO chance. He's likely going to seek out some media job, I believe that's what he's always wanted to do. I just hope it's in Houston, the guy is a freakin' natural! I would tune in to whatever he does just to hear him cracking jokes. If you've missed most of his weakly segments on SR610 in the morning, man, you missed some great stuff :D

Can we petition SR610 to hire him in some capacity or give him a radio spot or something on regular basis now that he isn't a player anymore?

i'd love jon barry as our color commentator if there's still no chance of calvin coming back.

yeah, just judging from interviews, barry would easily be better than drexler or bullard, even if i don't mind clyde as much as i used to. he seems like a natural talker, someone who isn't constantly trying to think of what to say, it just comes to him. i don't get that from bullard or drexler.

I am fine with Bull, I would just want Barry in place of Clyde to make sure that he never again gets anywhere near a mic or a TV camera again.

The funny thing is, Clyde isn't half as bad on radio, he seems to flow more naturally and isn't as 'uptight', but the bad news is he's just as void of any hint of a colorful personality...and yet he's our "color" commentator?

No chance of Calvin comming back, they would of already done it.

As far as working for the Rockets I'm not sure, I think Bull has earned his shot he keeps getting better and better. I am also sure Clyde will quit this job after this year or next like he has quit every job since retiring from the Rockets.

I have been saying since last year that I want Jon Barry to stay with this team in some capacity on the bench.

He knows hoops, he's passionate, he's a great clubhouse guy -- what more coud you ask for in an assistant coach?

And while we're at it, I'd love to see Deke take Ewing's place when he's done.

Spiked drink + Rafer + Head + No.1 pick for Kirk Hinrich

Not much Rocks can do in the off-season except re-sign Bogans & Hayes. No real game breakers in free agency.

JVG is a cancer and more and more people are beginning to see it. Le$ has to be kicking himself right now for extending his contract over the past summer. Perhaps karma for the Rudy T incident?

please, no. at least attempt to bring some younger blood to the team. tired of all the injuries and the squad getting ran to death.

at least show the fans that you're trying to do something different.

Well, it's bizarre no matter what you think about JVG. I'm really beginning to believe there's some serious conflict within the organization regarding JVG's demeanor, if not his results. Otherwise I can't see Worrell making any kind of comment that even hints at criticizing JVG right now, unless he's wanting to retire. If not, he apparently knows he has strong enough support from some people in the organization.
