my mom who has zero credit history, never uses the internet, never purchases brand name clothes recently received a denied credit app from dillards. i'm 100% sure she didn't apply for it. how do i find information on who tried to apply for the credit card etc?
First you would have to request for a credit report, this can be done from you bank very easily. Basically most credit cards belong to three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. So having a credit report that includes all three is a the best way to go. If you do find something suspicious i would immediately inform my bank of this and they should help you create escalate this. here is more info: http://www.usdoj.gov/criminal/fraud/websites/idtheft.html http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/microsites/idtheft/ Credit reports offered by many banks are free for the first report and about $12 for subsequent one. Hope this helps.
