She knew she was going to lose. This lets her go out on top and start making cash money doing speaking engagements for gatherings of stupid people.

I'm surprised she didn't offer any kind of excuse, no matter how lame. Even Derek Fisher would have thought to have a child in need of specialized medical attention handy to provide cover.

The last round of redistricting put her into the most Republican district in Minnesota. (Obama only got something like 41% of the vote in her district) Yet her idiotic presidential campaign nearly cost her the district. But with the Iowa scandal on top of everything, she was toast.

In reality she shouldve been a one term congresswoman. Her first re-election was also a squeaker that in reality only was won because the Minnesota Independence Party contested the seat and siphoned off some Republican votes that ordinarily would have gone to the Democrat in the race.

Phenomenal fundraising and some good luck kept her around but she couldnt continue to be lucky forever.

Unfortunately for her Minnesota voters dont have the history of one party voting that a voter in say Texas has. In Texas, straight ticket voting allowed crazies to stay on indefinitely (see Louie Gohmert) because Texas voters have a long history of single party voting. So at the end of the day, even the most hardened Republican will consider splitting their ticket and voting DFL to get rid of Bachmann.

    Nonetheless, good riddance.

I'm guessing she didn't want the headache of juggling campaign stops around her trial, community service, and visits to her probation officer.

Okay, I looked and I haven't found what I'm supposed to be impressed by. She went to a random state school for college, got a J.D. and an LLM, worked as a lawyer, had 5 children, fostered 23 others, did a stint in the State Senate and then a couple of terms in the US House. Obviously, not unaccomplished. But, not astounding either.

    Huh. I'm shocked.

And frankly, a good chunk of her staff are as well. My understanding is this was largely a personal decision from her, not related to the ethics investigation which she's been pretty chill about. Oh well.

The country is a winner. Don't give a care about Democrats and Republicans.

But now we're going to hear even more nonsense from her........ think Sarah Palin V2. The ink on her Fox news contract probably isn't even dry yet.

Don't delude yourself, this is completely about the ethics scandal. She will likely be facing criminal charges.

That's a shame. Rolling her out during the primaries was very entertaining.

After further talking, I'm 98% certain that it's not about that, though it does seem to be that Bachmann really doesn't think she will win in 2014. I'm not going to say how I know, only that I know.

I agree she would most likely lose and she knows it. Unless you're Marion berry, indictments have a way of making re-election tough.

The sad thing is that Democrats had a better chance of beating her than most any other GOP candidate running in that district.

Unlike the Dingbat, Bachmann doesn't have the Hot Mama Grizzly in tight jeans and high heels act. She's dead in the water. I never EVER watch Fox News (or CNN or MSNBC for that matter) so she could be on 24 hours/day and I wouldn't care.

Good try. Only a winner for the GOP. She was becoming a great negative symbol of the GOP for Dems and reality based voters.

If not Fox, I predict that the Koch Brothers can find a spot in the far flung rightist/libertarian propaganda empire. She can still rouse the NRA-birther-abortion clinic bombing crowd to vote for the one percent.
