XPS's are crap. Get a PowerMac or, if you must get a PC from Dell, get the Precision.

Most ebay Dell deals are from people who hoard on better Dell deals. Dell always releases coupons and percentage discounts. You can find it in that link above, or through sites like gotapex.com. So if you can find Brand New Systems on eBay, most likely there's a tidy profit involved for the reseller.

It's really up to you though since deals take a lot of time to find the cheapest value. If you're a penny pincher, then spending time on deal sites will be worth it. If you're looking for convenience, give the eBay-er that 100 dollar plus finders fee.

Dell may not make the fastest machines but they are plenty fast and have very few problems. Kind of like the honda's of computers. Very low risk.

    Thank you, sir.

As a Reliability Engineer at Dell, I can tell you that we are very thorough in our product qualification. We expect a lot out of our supply base, by enforcing strict design guidelines and test requirements. The XPS is just another example of a kickass system that will outperform its competition in terms of price, performance, and reliability.

I have had to help buy over 3000 computers and many diff systems over the years and I can tell you Dell is the Walmart of computers, cheap and they get the job done but nothing too great... We buy Dell ONLY because of the price and on-site warranty, overall they are a good value... They have good turnaround time in fixing computers, but dealing with their customer service is a nightmare!!! If you cant speak english why would Dell hire you, oh thats right they want people to work for nothing over seas to save a few dollars..Even if you get to talk to someone in the US they have offices all over the US and you get to bounce around from office to office without anyone knowing anything... I have to say you can expect some of this from all large computer makers, but Dell is by far the WORST!! It's sad with all that said we still buy from them because of the bottom line..
