I got mine in the mail yesterday...it's pretty f'in sweet. 20 GB for $299. I uploaded all 1323 of my songs in about 25 minutes and it only took up about 5 gb's. One thing I didn't know it had was a voice recorder. So somebody in school could use it to tape lectures or people at work record business meetings. With all this space, you could record hours of info, then when you are done, simply delete it. It also records the date and time of your recordings, so you won't get them mixed up. I also bought the RCA jack ($10) so I can plug it into my stereo reciever....it works great. If anybody is in the market, IMO it's the ****. I don't know how to paste pictures...but here's a link to Dell's website. http://www1.us.dell.com/content/products/category.aspx/dj?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
What does it do that other HD-based MP3 players don't? Toshiba is supposed to be releasing a 20 GB HD player that's smaller than the IPOD and thin as hell. Now that'd be sweet. I'm happy with all the stuff my Neuros can do, though. I think I'll stick with it for now.
For the money you pay for the Dell, it's a hell of a MP3 player. All the little things like the voice recording and the size/weight make it a worthy competitor against the IPod. I bought a Creative Nomad Jukebox NX 30g, and for 250, it's great for a basic Mp3 player. It doesn't have a microphone or anything like that, but it produces the best sound quality compared to all the other HD Mp3 players. In the end it's more buck for your storage. If money is a problem, I would go with the Nomad NX. If money isn't a problem, but you don't want to go with an IPod, the Dell and the I-River 20g Mp3 players are great fits. In the end though, if you have the money, the IPod is the best player out right now.
DOD, Besides the voice recorder, it doens't do anything else the basic MP3 players do...but for the size and price, it's a good buy IMO.
Hey Nash, that's cool. Did you ever check out the Neuros? I think you can get everything Dell's does and more for $199. The only drawback is the Neuros is not USB 2.0. But they're bringing a USB 2.0 version out and I'm supposed to be able to get a free upgrade to that. For $30 more you can get the combo 128MB/20GB version where you can swap pods to change the capacity from 20GB to a more portable 128MB MP3 player. It's also Open Source which is a plus. http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/pr...tegory_name=Neuros+Players&product_id=4010201 http://www.neurosaudio.com/store/pr...tegory_name=Neuros+Players&product_id=4010103 I think in about 2 or 3 years we'll both be looking for new ones with the way these things are advancing.
I did my research and went with the i-River iHP-120. http://reviews.cnet.com/iRiver_iHP_120/4505-6490_7-30571493.html?tag=pdtl-list Similiar to an ipod. Pros: More features than the Ipod (recording without a seperate attachment, fm tuner Cons: Uglier, not as well designed as Ipod. I love it so far!
