Hopefully he'll still show to the game on Friday for support so he can hear the DI-KEM-BE chant during warm ups.
Oh no........ I think him getting this injury, made him realize his body is breaking down and not what it used to be. More susceptible to injuries. He probably knew right away as he laid on the floor, he would be walking away from the game of basketball. It's really sad. What a great, great man. And what a wonderful career! You will always live on Deke!
if he spoke or just went out to center court and waved to the crowd we will destroy portland, our crowd will be so in to the game, and our players will be so emotional, it would be awesome...i hope he is there, and i wish i had a mutombo jersey : /
Deke suffered a ruptured tendon. There's no cartilage damage so I don't think microfracture is necessary/a possible surgery.
I hope the team plays with more motivation as they did when Yao went out last year. Wouldn't it be nice if we had a 12 game winning streak right about now?
It can't be true. Microfracture is used to repair your cartilage (like T-Mac had). You can walk on it, you can even run. For me it looked like he tore ligaments in his knee.
will he be with the team on friday and sunday? I know he should be prepping for surgery, but It would be soo awesome if the team had him on the bench for those games
Many of your friends are completely wrong then. Mutombo has a ruptured patellar tendon which will require surgery to repair it. McGrady had microfracture surgery, which is used when you don't have enough cartilage in your knee. Two COMPLETELY different surgeries that require COMPLETELY different types of rehab.
Didn't feel like starting another thread. I was reading about the stuff Deke has done in the NBA and have known about the stuff around the world. I think a good sendoff, would be to assist in the one thing that he seems to cherish, the Dikembe Mutumbo Foundation. Delete this thread of it's out of line, but I think he deserves a donation or two to help out and thank him for what he's done for us with his presence.
