Ah good times, good times. Battier should've gotten at least one year but who cares about recognition, the Rockets have been underappreciated for decades.

Can some1 make a nice wallpaper with those 3 guys together, that would be awesome.

P.S. Is there a picture of Olajuwon, Yao and Deke together ? If not, they should, 3 of the best Centers ever to play the game. Make it happen Morey ;)

scoring is deceiving. you can get garbage points, you don't pass the ball, etc

    but defense is true

you don't get cheap blocks or steals or rebounds or hold a guy below his scoring average

    DEFENSE IS TRU

man you need to learn something about basketball.

defense , a block, a defensive rebound, a steal can cause offense

    such as a fast break

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/K4IjhHvSVlA&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/K4IjhHvSVlA&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

you can shock the world with defense

Yup, one of the best examples you can think of, without Deke there is no #8 seed upsetting a #1 seed. He was the main reason the Nuggets had a nice few seasons between 93-96, they even almost went to the WCF if it wasn't for their shooters not being up for the task and lack of bench depth. The Nuggets would've posted some serious problems for the Rockets if they would've beaten the Jazz in 94; one of the few teams the Rockets had trouble beating.

    Also without defense (Deke):
    - there is no 22 game winning streak
    - no 15-0 start, no 22-1 start
    - no 15 game winnig streak in 93
    - no winning game 3 last year
    - no Allen Iverson getting to the finals
    - no Rockets championships
    - no 86 finals appearance
    - no getting a winning record against the Bulls in the early 90s
    - etc. etc.

Now you're being duplistic tinman. One moment you don't care about what a guy does in another uni, now you bring deke and artest and talk about passing knowledge. You can serve 2 masters and we keep it real, stop being phony.

Defense > offense, but to a certain degree, say if you got like five chuck hayes type of player out there......, u can't win(no disrespect to hayes, love his effort and D)

whats the point in the end, attacking tmac???

Tracy passed his knowledge of losing in the first round and throwing his teammates under the bus from Orlando too.

I'm not talking about highlights from other teams. i'm talking about facts and knowledge. you assume too much leebigez. you assume people know lew alcindor and who kareem was before he was kareem.

Maybe some new fans had no idea Ron Artest and Deke were defensive players of the year in their past.

Like all my thread bigz, its all facts, not an oh there's a tmac in orlando game showing on nbatv.

The Rockets have been playing great defense lately. This isn't dwelling on their past, its about game recognizing game.

    Lowry
    Artest
    Battier
    Hayes
    Mutombo

I sincerely doubt any team can put a better defensive group on the floor.

cheap steals happen. see: stockton, john

cheap blocks happen: see: smith, josh; camby, marcus

none of those guys are great defender. one of them even HAS a dpoy award, and that's a travesty and a testiment to the way the nba markets highlights over real basketball strengths and fundamentals.

I get your jist, but don't feed the statters that think numbers are all that matter, be it blocks, boards, or scoring #s. all can be falsely bolstered.
