With all great teams, they have atleast one guard they use in the starting lineup who is capable of just defending the other teams best scorer. This player doesnt need to be the best offensive player...but cant be a liability while the ball is in his hands. Since we have Yao and McGrady as our obvious go to players, and Swift as a third option... scoring guard/forward would be more servicable as a bench player for our team. I think its best that we try and find someone who is a tall and atheletic guard/forward type player who can guard the other teams best offensive player. This will allow tracy to play harder on the offensive end too. Who are the players out there that the rockets could possibly sign for this position or acquire in a trade. players that first come to mind... dermarr johnson trent hassel sprewell (but i would pass on em still) gerald wallace
This might not be popular, but if we are interested in a s&T for Damon, then get R. Patterson- athletic, great defender, high energy, high percentage shooter. I beleive only 2 years remaining on his contract. If off court problems don't scare the team away, he would fit nicely beside TMac at 2/3. Swift,TMAc,Damon,Patterson- that team can run.
I think it will end up being Spreewell especially if we get Mighy Mouse, we can't have that undersized a backcourt, but i dont see him as doing more than 10-13 points a night. but his defense.... I just think the JVG connection is gonna prove too strong.
haha, when i came back to this thread i thought the same thing too funny anyways... rush would be a nice solid role player... as would buckner. we gotta do something with this spot. with how much tmac handles the ball and controls the offense...it doenst make sense to add another point guard.
If we're gonna get a Blazer as our stopper, it should be Darius Miles, not Ruben Patterson. Kerry Kittles for the LLE, anyone?
I'd love Mo Pete, but the Raptors are kind of thin at SG and probably want to keep him. On the other hand, Eric Williams and Aaron Williams have been vocal about wanting out of Toronto. What would you guys think of trading Weatherspoon? Aaron's deal is also expiring. Eric has another year. Aaron can take Weatherspoon's spot on the pine. Eric can be our backup SF. Eric, while older, is historically a good defender, team player and can hit the 3, although not at a high clip (although he did shoot well for 21 games with NJ last year). If we pick up Stoudamire for the LLE, that gives us: Yao, Deke Swift, Howard, A. Williams T-Mac, E. Williams Sura, Wesley, Barry Stoudamire, James, Head IR: Baker, Norris, Ward Someone would have to go since there aren't enough roster spots, but we could work it out. EDIT: Another idea would be to trade Wesley and Baker instead of Spoon to help the logjam.
