In today's game, when Yao is on Robinson, Dunkon scored at will. when Yao is put on Dunkon, Robinson scored a bunch. Where is the defense from EG or Porsay? Not to mention Spurs guards scored easily as well. And the offense of Rox is simple: ISO and jump shots. How many layups did Rox make? how about assists? The reality is also simple: none of Rox player is skilled as MJ, T-Mac, Kobe to play ISO, and non of Rox player is consistent good shooter. I don't understand why RT has not given up ISO. You have got a bunch of players NOT capable of playing ISO, not to mention it is horrible offense system to start with. What on earth are you still thinking? This is a sub .500 team and it is going to be the outcome of this season.
look the rockets suck this year, we have to realize they are not the spurs or the kings, etc. , they make me mad how damn inconsistent they are, oh well people say give them a few years but i dont want to , i didnt mean they suck but damn if they play good they are one of the best, but they never do it !
Yeah, where the f*ck did the D go?? This team used to hustle and play some pretty good D. The offense was never so great, but the past few games they have really been in a slump. It's funny how Taylor always seems to shoot well when most everyone else is sucking. The intensity is gone from this team. They seem to be resigned to a fate of sucking sucking sucking and missing the playoffs.
If we get two all-star but just better than the Nuggets, TRADE all the players you have and have a NEW coach!!!
We should at least play tough D. Lately, Yao and Steve have been missing shots that they usually make, but that happens. The horrendous D is a mystery though.
Exactly: Rudy's greatest claim to fame was that he was a coach who get the most out of his players on the DEFENSIVE end of the court. He was NEVER known as a great X's and O's guy. But now that his players aren't even close to playing the kind of defense that they started the year with I honestly believe that Rudy's worth has plummeted. I also believe that Steve and Cuttino are almost as bad at defense as Eddie G. and that it's a direct correlation to their shots per game going down due to Yao's emerging as the offensive focal point of the team. Having said all that, it seems like when they play that "match up zone" as Calvin likes to call it, they play GREAT D!! Why doesn't Rudy use it more?
if you think cuttino is as bad at D as those two then you are a dumbass and don't watch the games objectively.
Francis 4 prez - I have never called anyone a name on this board, but your need to clearly indicates that your are projecting onto others what you obviously believe about yourself! Please grow up soon. Having said that, I have been at all of the home games since the end of January and watched ALL the away games on TV, and seen Cat getting absolutely TORCHED by the 2 guards on opposing teams. Kobe had 50 points on an injured friggin leg!! MJ IS 40 years old and seldom scores more than 20, but totally KILLED the "CAT!!" And Genobli had his career high against who: Cuttino Mobley. Mobley plays defense when he wants to and lately he doesn't appear to be very interested. And, as I said in a thread earlier and predicted at the beginning of the season: "as this team has become more Yao focused on offense, both S.F. and Cat will/have handled it VERY poorly." I truly believe that our starting guards attitudes are totally locked into how many shot attempts they get during a game, and this extends to their lack of effort on defense lately!!
cuttino has been trying to fit in more and more all season and i haven't noticed a drop in his defensive intensity at all. he was superhyper against kobe, intense if not successful against mj. only today have i seen him slack off, and i'll allow one game out of every 10 or so.
No defense, no offense...but at least our special teams are doing pretty goo....oh wait. This is basketball. Damnit.
One thing that is consistant is EG offense - consistantly bad. .38 last night - right in line with all the other games. He rarely shoots worse than .36 and very rarely shoots better than .39. His d is below average. His rebounding is below average. Someone tell me what he is doing out there? Can anyone name me a PF who has a worse career FG%? Let me name them for you - Brian Cardinal, Brian Scalabrine and Ruben Wolkowyski. The bad thing is, teams are collapsing on Ming to keep him from getting the ball because who needs to guard EG? Sorry - I just don't know how much more I can take of him playing - much less starting.
The Rockets' regression on defense falls on everyone. Neither Yao or Griffin are controlling the paint, and the backcourt has been underachieving all year. Everyone's so worried about getting their stats and touches that nobody's playing winning ball. Typical immature team.
