Its absolutely pointless to have a 'defense' if our offense is incredibly poor.
Maybe the loss to the Hawks had affected me. The Rockets are like Gollum, we're not getting the Ring. JVG needs to simplify or open up the offense for us to have a chance to win.

    1. look at the Suns, despite lossing Amare plus Joe Johnson/Q Rich, they are still playing great. they have a great OFFENSIVE SYSTEM
    2. look at the Clippers, they added 2 offensive players. Sam and Cuttino, they are doing well.
    3. look at the Pistons! Flip has actually opened up the offense, they are taking more 3s now and running.
    4. look at the Mavericks. if Dirk went out they would still win. They have enough offensive players.

Our role players are offensive on offense and it all starts with the PG. The PG NEEDS TO SCORE. Besides running the offense the PGs in the NBA that do well are the ones that can score.

    1. Tony Parker =dude can shoot/run the break penetrate
    2. Billups
    3. Cassell
    4. kobe (yeah he's really the Lakers PG)
    5. LeBron (he's really the Point, who scores like 30pts/game)
    6. Iverson (really the point)

    We have:
Skip To My Lou =HE CANT SHOOT
    Moochie = Moochie
Sura = our best PG, but he's hurt all the time hanging around fatchiks

    Plus:
I hate watching our offense. its so fustrating. is this why the keep playing music at every possession? to entertain us?

I think the Rudy T ISO STEVE/CUTTINO was more entertaining.

Defense is not overrated... the Spurs and Pistons could rely on that ALONE, and they'd still win a ton of games.

Offense doesn't have to be explosive... but EXECUTION must be there. Both the Pistons and the Spurs execute like no other. They create fast-break opportunities based on their excellent defense ALONE, whereas teams like the Suns and Mavs just try to fastbreak on every possesion (and that's why they normally lose in the playoffs, because good defensive teams can stop that).

Of course, you need TALENT to have execution, and the Pistons and Spurs have plenty of that... much more than the current-day injury-riddled Rockets.

You're right, tinman, we really need to open up a more innovative offense for our primary scorer, Juwan Howard. :D

The Suns, Pistons, Clippers, Spurs, and Mavs. Which teams have won a championship? Oh yeah, the ones with great defenses.

The Mavs, Kings, and Suns all have had great offenses in recent years. Which have won championships? Oh yeah, none.

    dude,
The Spurs/Pistons each have 3 guys that can give you 20pts+ a game.
    Defense is overrated, especially ours.

we dont have a Rip Hamilton or Ginobli etc.

Im not talking about Championships, Im talking about the Rockets. The teams that won championships of course had to have good defenses, but they had to have good OFFENSE FIRST.

that's why the Suns, Mavs are in the playoffs and we are struggling the crap seed every year. Our offense system stucks.

Like I said, look at the Suns. they're system works with Radja Bell. People get open looks, fast breaks, and less turnovers.

you want proof about good defense/bad offense = crap record?
    LOOK AT THE ROCKETS.

im not at that point yet, but i hate the product out there.

at least the old days, we'd have SOMEBODY step up and win games. Im not talking about Juwan getting 20pts because we have no one else. I'm talking about the Matt Bullards and Vernon Maxwells and Kenny Smiths stepping up.

We signed STROMILE SWIFT and we ALL KNOW he's not a half court player.. So quit running the half court offense like Yao was in there.

If we had a healthy roster right now, our offense would be fine.

Oh for the love of God, you hopeless whiners...

STOP making stupid comparisons to other teams, the comparison just isn't there! How can you in your right mind compare us to the suns? They replaced Joe Johnson and Q Richardson with *GASP* better players (better in that they have much higher basketball IQs than Q "jack-it-up-for-three-everytime-I-touch-the-ball" Rich). And the only injury they have is to Amare. Plus Steve Nash is still reigning MVP, and for a good reason.

The Pistons won a championship and made it to game 7 of the finals the next year using a defensive mindset. The Spurs have won 3 championships in the past five.

And then you really started to make yourself look dumb - Kobe is the Lakers' PG? What the...and mind you, Rafer *can* shoot. He's streaky, but he can really fill it up when he gets going.

People need to stop whining. We've been decimated by injuries. And as we are, we're just not talented enough as a team to compete in the NBA. It's as simple as that. All we can do is hope players start to get better so we can get back to true form.

why do we not have a healthy product?

    Dude,
I'm about 1 billion times smarter than you at basketball, so don't even front like you know anything besides what you seen on sports center.
    I'm a demi-god of hoops. I am the spirit. I am Brahma and Vishnu. I am Mau'Dib.

    1. Skip to My Lou can't Shoot. His name is SKIP TO MY LOU. Not SWISH TO MY LOU
    2. KOBE Is their PG. He handles the ROCK 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 %
    of the time.
    3. The Spurs beat the Pistons last year because their offense was better than the Pistons defense. You remember a ROBERT HORRY dude?
Same with the Pistons. They have 3 great offensive players, RIP, Sheed and Chauncey and strong role players.
    4. Oh i'm whinning? Sorry dude, maybe you're one of these wierd hippie icky dudes, but losing to the Hawks, Kings, really sucks. I know you maybe bet against the roller in Craps, but I tend to like it when teams win. Especially if you are a fan who has to pay money to watch them.
if you want whine, see Sideways.

be thankful i'm giving you knowledge cause thats how great I am!

so what you're looking for isn't to dump the emphasis on defense but to pick up a legit 3rd option...

LMAO. We need offense. Have you been watching the rockets. We have all the offense we need. TMac, Yao, Stro, Howard, DA, Wesley, Head, Sura, and Barry are all capable offensive players. We are LOADED with offensive players. Alston is a great penetrator and playmaker. He can play offense. The past many games, we have realized how good howard and wesley really are on O.

One stat- Rockets have won once when scoring less than 90 and lost only a 3 or 4 times when scoring over.

JVG is the problem. You talking to the wrong people tinman, these guys are going to blame everything on injuries. Get owned by the hawks, its just injuries. We have lost or won almost every game because of the final minutes. JVG is the problem people. You guys wont get it though.
