Anyone know of a place in Houston where I can have a turkey fried for a small fee? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
I saw something on TV, was it the Simpsons, where they said something like two people would burn down their houses this year, trying to fry a turkey.
You can get the fryers for $40 bucks at Walmart. They work great just make sure you do it outside on a non-flamable surface.
I saw a commercial with President David Palmer for Allstate, I believe, that mentioned something about how a lot of people are going to burn down their homes with those turkey fryers and isn't it great that Allstate is there to pick up the pieces... or something to that effect.
I saw an Academy commercial for one of those fryers with a burner for under $40. Don't know the size of bird it can fry though. Might be cheaper in the long run if you go that route unless you can find someone willing to fry it for you.
ok I had a fried turkey last year and decided to try doing it myself. My parents bought me a fryer at Sam's that had the burner the pot/basket, a thermometer, and the rack and handle to drop the turkey in. I decided to try out chickens today for practice. I injected last night and cooked this evening. It is one of the easiest things to do. The chickens were juicy and tasted great. If you plan on having fried turkey often I recommend getting a burner and pot and doing it yourself. You'll save money in the long run and you can always use the pot for frying fish or boiling crawfish.
Suggested time is 3.5 minutes per pound for turkey. Chicken is 9 minutes per pound. Both with a grease temperature at 350 degrees.
