Seriously, if we got a thread about Yao and his rehab, I would like to know how Stevie is doing. I mean, the guy just came off surgery and we don't know if he's hobbling around or if he's feeling real good right now. I would like to know what he's going through and his thoughts. I would also like to know how his prognosis is and whether or not he's got a chance to make a full return to his preinjury form. Maybe what his immediate plans are and his future plans. Someone go to his house and interview the man! C'mon!
I have nothing either let's just hope he comes back ready to play next year. Given our success without him and his small contract anything positive that he can contribute is like an added bonus. I still believe he has some game left in him. Sure, his body might not allow him to demonstrate that but we really risk nothing by hanging onto him. Worst case scenario: another expiring contract.
Well, at least you didn't post an article from two years ago where Stevie talks about his knee hurting.
The most expensive token mascot ever, Les should have just hired Steve as part of the Launch Crew for the standard wage, would have been cheaper that way and still get the fans their nostalgia fill.
If he makes it back to full pre injury form, the NBA should revive their NBA Comeback Player of the Year Award. But he might have stiff competition from Shaun Livingston of the Clippers who blew his knee out sideways. Candidates for the now imaginary or defunct award which should go to the NBA player who makes the most improvement on returning after a significant career threatening injury. Candidates Amare Stoudamire Grant Hill Yao Ming Grant Hill Jay Williams Vince Carter Steve Francis????? Comeback Player of the year winners 1984-85 Michael Ray Richardson. New Jersey 1983-84 Adrian Dantley. . . . . Utah 1982-83 Paul Westphal. . . . . .New York 1981-82 Gus Williams. . . . . . Seattle 1980-81 Bernard King. . . . . . Golden State
Did he have the surgery? I think that the surgery may have a good chance of repairing whatever it was that was limiting his athleticism...and that would mean we have a very inexpensive player for next year. Sounds good to me. DD
Remember the we want Francis chants this year? LOL. People were raking Adelman over the coals on this board for not playing him. LOL again.
YUP.....you're correct. The following information was from the Q&A from Jonathan Feigen's blog March 1.
Thanks Pruyen, actually he waited 3 years for this surgery which I find unfathomable. However had he gotten the surgery and made a full recovery earlier, chances are he'd still be in a Knicks or Sonics uniform. So perhaps this is just fortune knocking on the Rockets door. Imagine the return of a full strength Steve Francis. As DD said, a cheap veteran player.
