Yao. Stoudamire = 15.4 points, 10.2 reb, 0.8 blocks Yao = 17.1 points, 10.4 reb, 2.8 blocks Better in every category.
Being as unbiased as I am, I would give the ROY to this Amare guy. He's awesome while Yao has hit the rookie wall now and slowed down a lot. Don't get me wrong, I think we get the better player for the future.
For a HS rookie! Against Kevin Garnetts Twolves on the second of back to back road games. Kevin Garnett was clearly intimidated and has shown immaturity. He ''escaped'' at least one of Amare's highlight dunks. He got upset than he blocks ONE shot of Amare and starts taunting and doesn't even get a tech.
People are looking at the Rockets and they see Ming. Even if Ming did not beat Amare in ppg, rpg, apg, spg....ect, his presence is so much more of an impact. Everyone is raving about him. Numbers are not everything. Kenny Smith may have looked a bit off when he said Ming was our best player. That comment is not so funny now. Ming is making people change gameplans and adapt to him. He can also get his teammates involved. Amare is a good player but Ming is a great player. But if you want to look at the numbers, Ming wins that too as Cat has pointed out.
My prediction may be right then. Stoudemire as ROY in my Rox Debacle List. Damn, I hate myself. But Yao is soft as Kleenex. He needs to rough up a bit.
Ming: Stoudemire 23.9 points per 48 mins 18.3 points per 48 mins 13.9 rebs per 48 mins 14.0 rebs per 48 mins 3.71 blocks per 48 mins 1.88 blocks per 48 mins 56.7% FG% 44.6% FG% 'nuff said, but let's hope Ming can keep it up and Rox start to win again.
Look at Amare's stats since he is starting...or his numbers for December. And please don't come up with the argument that Ming is making such a difference for the Rockets. They are 16-13 and Suns are 19-12, Amare makes just as much of a difference as Ming. Tonight in the only time he rested , the Twolves outscored Phoenix 10-0.
Two off games means the rookie wall? For you and slinslin, here are the December numbers: Stoudamire = 15.4 points, 10.2 reb, 0.8 blocks Yao = 17.1 points, 10.4 reb, 2.8 blocks Yao is better in every single category, wall or no wall. To not give it to him would be absolutely ridiculous.
I gotta give it to Amare too. I saw some of his highlights on NBA2Night and he looked a lot like a younger Shawn Kemp (in his Seattle days). As much as I like Yao, Amare's done better and has been a lot more consistent.
Tonight my identity has been revealed. 38/14 The mark of a champion. (i think Yao deserves rookie of the month, though both are and will be GREAT players.)
ok,Yao will be the Roy of December. Because yao outplayed Robinson&Duncan , B.miller&J.oneal ,and being Top 1 "rookie power "for 4 weeks in December. Yao, ROY of December that is for sure.
Soft? Because Yao is more of a skillful player and that Stoudemire (spelling) is more of a power player, you call our player soft???
Let's see if Yao is still on top of the standings tomorrow. Amare is averaging 24.33ppg 11.66rpg 2apg 1.66bpg this week 29-45 from the field.
OK, Amare is on the top of the standing this week, then? top 1 for 1 week, top1 for 4 week, who will be ROY? funny. I love amare 's power,BUT I love yao's skill more.
basically worthless award or recognition, but whatever, it's not best game of the month, it's best month period. did some of you just skip over both of cat's posts, yao is better in every single category. that's all you need to know. there is no debate here fellas. as far as yao being soft, that is just plain stupid.
Also Yao has helped his team to a 7-6 record in December. Amare has helped his team to a 11-4 record in December.
