It is also one of the retailers where you can get the artbook if you preorder it, and remember that the game already comes with a soundtrack CD featuring 24 tracks ( not all songs are on the disc though). 60+ hours of gameplay + artbook + soundtrack CD + $35 price tag is a great combination. Spoiler Yes, this will basically be my Persona 4 thread from now on.
Cola, Everybody is playing SF2HD on Ps3 and Xbox. it rules all the next gen systems, and it has zero polygons or long animated cinemas. I told you.
It was funny when the PS1 couldn't handle 2D fighters because it lacked sufficient RAM. But it was setting the bar polygon wise.
We got a PS3 on Black Friday! Currently we have Assassin's Creed and Dead Space. I'm thinking about picking up LittleBigPlanet and Prince of Persia in the future. Are there any more games to be released this month for the PS3? It seems December's list is shorter than that of previous months.
Not really. I tend to exclude games that I don't think will be all that good, although that can backfire at times. AFAIK, other PS3 games releasing in December are Sonic Unleashed, Rise of the Argonauts (also on 360 and PC), and The Tale of Despereaux (also on a bunch of other systems). Would probably be better to just get PoP or any other good games released for the PS3, especially if you can get them for cheap (EX: Burnout, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, etc.). December does tend to be a quiet month for game releases, especially compared to the craziness experienced in October and November. It seems like most games not released by November usually take a few extra months of polish (releasing in February or March) instead of releasing in December.
Multiplayer nature is awesome whether with friends (you are the survivors killing zombies) or online where you can play as special zombies or survivors. Not much fun if you're a solo gamer.
I pity the fool who gets a PS3 and doesn't buy Uncharted. That's like buying an original Xbox and skipping out on Halo.
I always go to GameSpot first, but they gave it no props (8.0), saying firefights were frustratingly hard. IGN gave it a 9.1. Honestly, IMO, Uncharted and Burnout Paradise are the best games to come out for this generation of systems. Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Gears of War, GRAW 2, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and several others are awesome as well, but Uncharted and BP are tops on my list. I never get tired of playing them. EDIT: Haha... I think GameSpot must just hate platformers... they also just gave Prince of Persia the same score they gave Uncharted (8.0), while IGN gave it a 9.3.
Now that I think about it, I think they gave R&C a 7.5 or something like that. Not that I cared much at the time since I already started to ignore their reviews (or most reviews period actually...at least the scores), but that is an interesting observation. Obligatory Gametrailers review for Uncharted: <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=28090"/> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=28090" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object> On a related note, for those of you that missed it, Uncharted 2 has been officially revealed: <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=8,0,0,0" id="gtembed" width="480" height="392"> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /> <param name="movie" value="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=43232"/> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <embed src="http://www.gametrailers.com/remote_wrap.php?mid=43232" swLiveConnect="true" name="gtembed" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="true" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="392"></embed> </object> Maybe more on the 14th during Spike's award show. Also have some exclusives for God of War 3 (gameplay apparently), Fight Night Round 4, Brutal Legend, Mafia 2, new Gears 2 content and some unannounced games.
Kickass! I was looking at those reviews just a little while ago and the consensus between critic and user ratings definitely gives praise to both Uncharted and Prince of Persia regardless of Gamespot's lower scores.
Man, I remember posting about this game a long time ago, but looks like it's back! http://kotaku.com/5100622/black-college-football-experience-to-support-rock-band-drum-kit The Black College Football Experience will support Rock Band drums!
http://www.gamespot.com/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26696604&sid=6201909&om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;4 I'm excited that we'll get the first gameplay glimpses of Brutal Legend and God of War 3 during the VGA's on December 14. These are 2 of the games I've most been looking forward to the on the PS3. Apparently there will be an Uncharted 2 clip. I've seen the teaser, and I'm hoping we'll see some new gameplay. The engine on the first was great, and I'm optimistic that Naughty Dog will improve upon it.
The latest 1UP Show features Persona 4 and PoP (as well as KZ2): <div style="width:500px; text-align:center"><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="319" src="http://gamevideos.1up.com/swf/gamevideos11.swf?embedded=1&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&src=http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/videoListXML%3Fid%3D22871%26adPlay%3Dtrue" align="middle"></embed><a href="http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22871" target="_blank">The 1UP Show: Episode 12/05/08</a></div> Didn't know that Nathan Drake is the Prince of Persia. Persona 4 has been getting some great reviews so far (~96 at Metacritic, 3rd highest PS2 game...and that's not counting 2 perfect scores it just got). Nice way to send the PS2 off with a bang...at least when it comes to critical reception. Hopefully it gets some nice sales too.
Since Cola doesn't like posting reviews on superior capcom 3d fighters, I'll post it for you. This is the review for both PS3/Xbox360 <div style="width:500px; text-align:center"><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="500" height="319" src="http://gamevideos.1up.com/swf/gamevideos11.swf?embedded=1&fullscreen=1&autoplay=0&src=http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/videoListXML%3Fid%3D22760%26adPlay%3Dtrue" align="middle"></embed><a href="http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22760" target="_blank">Super SFII Turbo HD Remix Video Review</a></div> A+ http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3171504&p=4&sec=REVIEWS Reviews The sixth iteration of Street Fighter II proves that -- 14 years later -- the World Warriors are still the kings of the 2D ring. By Ryan Scott 11/25/2008 > Reviewer's Blog > Review Crew Profile Some games stand the test of time; Street Fighter II drags time into a back alley and beats it senseless. Fourteen years on, Super Street Fighter II Turbo -- the pinnacle of the SF2 series and of fighting games, period -- still gets serious play among genre geeks. That's a long time to dismantle a game, learn precisely how it ticks, and analyze its merits and flaws the way only a motley community of frame-counting fanatics can. HD Remix -- SF2's sixth iteration, shepherded and meticulously number-crunched by Backbone Entertainment's tourney-pro-turned-game-designer David Sirlin -- is the product of that nearly decade-and-a-half-long dissection. To casual players, HD Remix is a generous facelift with a few fun new moves, something to whet the appetite for Street Fighter IV. Ryu's fake fireball, M. Bison's brief window of immunity during his Devil Reverse, Guile's horizontal-angled roundhouse Flash Kick, T. Hawk's block-safe dive, and Chun Li's now-useful Spinning Bird Kick will all but escape the weekend warrior's notice. But for serious players, those represent just a few of HD Remix's significant, game-changing tricks. Behind all the lush new stage backgrounds, hand-drawn HD character models, and remixed music is a fighter obsessively tuned to what the collective hive-mind of SF2 culture deems "perfection." Of course, it'll be a while before anyone's really scrutinized what all the mechanical tweaks mean for HD Remix's metagame -- are Balrog and Dhalsim (whose nigh-unstoppable throw chains dominate high-level SSF2T play) still the relative kings of the ring? Can the rebalanced (and once egregiously overpowered) Akuma finally stand as a "real" character? Do Cammy and T. Hawk still squarely define the bottom of the barrel? And will the hardcore enthusiasts stand by this new status quo, or simply retreat to the also-included SSF2T Classic mode? At any rate, that's just a bit of perspective, not perplexity. I can answer the more immediate question -- whether HD Remix holds up in online play -- with a resounding "Hell, yes." Backbone wisely co-opted fan-favorite peer-to-peer platform GGPO.net, which you can essentially think of as the netcode equivalent of the Google algorithm. This crazy Internet voodoo works well, and it makes for the most lag-free versus play this side of a brick-and-mortar arcade. Much like the revered game built around it, it is -- to these eyes, which have every pixel of SSF2T forever burned into them -- flawless. Spoiler Final Fantasy Sucks
You talk about SF2 a lot, I hope you don't disappoint. We'll play on 360 or PS3 one day. I'll ask my friend if he bought it for his 360. I don't want to drop another $15 on this game. Actually, I don't plan on playing competitive till I get my HRAP3. Playing with a pad drives me insane.
