Wow... the ultimate pessimists are starting too look bad! I think we're going to be better than 6-23. Popey: How was the consensus 10-20? I counted, and only 5 people had us in single digits, and there #'s weren't so low as to drag the average down *that* much. It seems like the consensus should be something *like* 12-18.
haven Well, I will ask my mathematician to solve that one. She did the tabulation and checked it several times but I will recheck it with my statistics program at work tommorrow.
haven The reason it appears incongruous is the fact that individually each game was given either a win or a loss (measured as a majority)by each player who played, and then each game is tabulation summed as either a win or a loss in relation to how many picked W and how many picked L . For instance: we could have 55 players playing this game. 45 of them could pick a loss, 10 pick a win. The result is tabulated as a loss. However,what you are doing is relating the consenus figure with the actual number of wins versus losses picked by each player as an overall December result. Another example: I predicted 13-17 overall. But if a game I picked as a win was not the consensus on the board for that particular game then that win I picked would count as a loss in the tabulated consensus total. It therefore would not coincide with my win-loss (13-17) record. Another player who picked the same 13-17 record may agreed with the rest and picked that particular game as a loss. He would therefore be in accord with the consensus. Confused yet????
