I have a cousin who is vacationing in Iceland. I was chatting with her yesterday and she told me that there hadn't been any daylight in the last two days. I thought she was kidding with me until I did a little searching and found info confirming her claim. I really don't know if I could handle no daylight in the months of December and January. According the the above chart there is conversely no darkness in the summer months of July and August. This is all apparently due to the fact that Iceland is so close to the Arctic circle. Really weird stuff.
Upon closing my blinds, there was no daylight in my living room yesterday afternoon. Really weird stuff.
Barrow, Alaska laughs at you! I think Barrow goes for 2-3 months without daylight in the winter and 2-3 months with no darkness in the summer.
Well, if your cousin has not seen any daylight the last couple of days then she cannot have been looking out because Iceland is all south of the arctic circle and there is 4 hours of daylight + a full hour of twilight before sunrise and after sundown at the end of December and the beginning of January. If she is living somewhere like Isafjordur in the North-west then there is a period when the sun is not visible (the mountains are high and the sun is low on the horizon) but that does not mean there is no daylight. At the moment we have light (daylight+twilight) between 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon here in the Reykjavik area, it is a little less in the northern parts. Iceland is certainly not unique in this, the USA, Canada, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia all extend much farther north than Iceland does. Valdi

3 months of no night would bother me than 3 months of no daylight, It could be because I am a night owl though.
