The Rockets closed out the Nets on the road.

The Pacers came back and took one from the Magic in Orlando. I have to admit they sort of gave it to us by going ice cold from the field and deciding not to play defense. Still, the Pacers snagged a game nobody expected them to win. I still wonder if the Magic will fall flat after the strong start.

The Bulls closed out the Pistons in Detroit. I KNEW the Bulls were going to lose this one but they kept hitting clutch shots. Two of their six wins are against the Pistons. Sweet! I admit to watching most of the final minutes on ESPN even though the Rockets were on (since the Rox were up by a comfortable margin).

For the second consecutive night, the Heat completely cratered in crunch time and lost to two teams that I like. It's interesting that Shaq came out smoking (and in fact was perfect from the field) but only played 22 minutes. Even when the Heat were up by 18 you knew the Warriors had a big run coming. The late 4th quarter meltdown was breathtaking. Major props to Azubuike, who has matured a lot since last year. He was dynamic when the game was on the line skying for rebounds, hitting 3 pointers and getting putbacks.

KD had a great game, especially in the 4th quarter as the Sonics beat the Bucks. This was two bad teams playing each other but the last 8-9 minutes were fun to watch. KD had pullup jumpers (after crossovers) going both ways, a strong finish with the left hand, a 3 pointer plus a boatload of late FTs. He also had 5 blocked shots. KD is gaining more poise each time I see him.

The Bucks aren't really a bad team anymore.

They're not great yet, but they are a playoff team now.

Seriously.....no matter how much I hate an Eastern team....whenever they play against the West, if that Western team is ahead of us, you gotta root East.

Maybe he's a basketball fan first, and a Rockets fan second...he could also hate the Heat (a one-off Champ; never would have one without D-Wade going nutz and the refs smoking crack)...maybe he also likes to see former Rockets who couldn't stick with our team under JVG thrive under another coach who create an offense around his personnel...or all of thee above...

I don't start worrying about seeding until after the all-star break, when we have a real idea of who we should be worried about, and, more importantly, how much work we have ahead of us just to make the playoffs.

Stated another way, you might watch the clock before the All-Star break, but you don't obsess over the box scores in the sports page. Before then, you pretty much just play ball and try to fix the kinks. After the All-Star break, you might make a trade (if you haven't already made one) and you surely start worrying about playoff seeding, especially under the new divisional seeding rules.
