Well, I have an armadillo problem. It is tearing up my yard. The only way I can get it to stop is to poison my yard every 5 weeks with Diazanon or something similar.

I have tried to trap him and have caught 2 possums and 2 racoons, but NO Armadillo.

I have looked for Armadillo poison, but so far, not any luck.

Anyone have any experience with these adorable ANNOYING critters?

My grandparents had that same problem so I use to sit in the garage all night with a 410.

You only have to do that so often.

They're tough to kill. You almost can't drown them. If you took one out to the middle of a moderately large pond or lake, dropped it in the water and then rowed back to the shore, 5 minutes later it would come walking out of the lake on one side. They can't swim, but they can hold their breath forever and they just walk to safety. I always thought that was pretty cool.

I hate the little suckers too. Opossums, however, have to be the worst......creepiest animals on the planet. Either way, those are 2 animals I swerve my truck into whenever possible.

A 12 gauge works wonders on armadillos.....they'll pop open like a watermelon.
Of course, you probably can't fire a shotgun in your neighborhood.

I had an armadillo tearing up my yard about a year ago. Bought some little CB cap .22 shells. Very very quiet. Waited outside for about an hour till the little b*stard finally came. Bye Bye yard vermon!!!!

Can you use a pellet gun? Pump the heck out of it, will it have the stopping power?

Are they legally protected since they are one of the state animals of Texas?

It's not like we're talking about a hive of African killer bees or something. Try to catch it, scare it off (does it walk along the same areas - put down a "scat mat", or something similiar), etc...no need to kill it, I don't think.

Sure, call ROX. Just be sure to duck, and when the police arrive pretend that you don't know him.

just borrow a terrier for a day. they will want to destroy an armadillo if they see one. I have a cairn terrier and we have an armadillo in our apartment complex. he hates that damn thing. but I think armadillos are rabies carriers so that might not be a good idea.

That's why I asked if they were legally protected. If so, I doubt many stores sell such an item.
