I can only pray the town hall screamers can keep us from sliding down the slippery slope into this socialist abyss.
Again I'm still learning what the plan is going to be all about. Basso provided a link to the PDF that contained a rough draft of the proposed plan. But I can't find in there that states It's going to replace the Whole Health care system? If I'm reading it right it is an option if you don't have health insurance or if you want cheaper insurance if you currently buy outside a group plan. Also it states you can keep your company assisted health insurance plan if you wanted. Gifford am I misreading the PDF document Basso provided?
Leo got better treatment than any private healthcare could provide, regardless of cost. Perhaps the few guys who I personally know that goto the VA are full of crap about their horror stores, as opposed to "Leo", who's name has been changed to protect the identity. Great stuff! Im going to start posting all the random spam I get on here too!
once again you fail as there's a link to that story and it's not even the us, unless you're buddies with a lot of soldiers who are for some reason being treated in the uk. i'm sure you'll dismiss it in some "cute" way again, but this is not some forwarded e-mail going around.
Space Ghost: Can you give me a coherant list of reasons (or a single reason) you fear the new health plan? I seriously have yet to see a single legitimate complaint.
Actually the birther/tea partier/town haller's were the ones who started that: Now that's a great argument against single payer!
I love the birther=tea partier=town haller=wants Jim Crow laws!!!!1 association that gets freely tossed around. I've seen plenty of people that are at these town halls, and I don't think it's fair at all to classify them as crazy idiots or radical right wingers. (necessarily, some obviously are)
Here is an example of how the government bureaucrats are willing to hold your little socialist hand, attend to your every little need, and gently pat your bottom when you cry. Texas Democrat Sheila Jackson-Lee, who is willing to allow her constituents the honor of being in her presence, just so long as they don’t gripe too much about the fact that she’s talking on her freaking cell phone while one of them is raising a Constitutional and ethical concern about legislation she is supporting in her constituents’ name in Congress. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/gFC4mfPMF-0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/gFC4mfPMF-0&color1=0x3a3a3a&color2=0x999999&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Uh, it's the same people organizing all the events. For example, Congressman Scott got ambushed at a town hall meeting about Highway funding. You really honestly think moderate, joe citizens, having read the 1000 page house draft health bill, spontaneously formed a grass roots movement and happened to shout down and curse at their local elected official at a snooze-inducing meeting about highway funding? No...it was organized by the same (all white) local wingnuts who run stupid tea parties. I guarantee you these are the morons sending each other chain emails about kenyan birth certificates and like to claiim Sotomayor is a racist - basically, real life versions of the stupid caricature that Trader Jorge of Mombassa plays on the BBS. So let's get this straight, a gang of conservative white folks jeer at Congressman Scott, send him emails telling him that hte president should go back to africa and that he's a n-gger etc, spray paint a swastika on his office...and you're saying others are bringing race into it....yeah right.
I just disagree. I personally know somebody who participated in a town hall and she is not a wing nut and was not organized. I think what you are describing probably happened/happens to a certain extent, but I do not accept the basic premise that these are all the same people.
They are the same people, on the same e-mail lists, from yesterday's protest in PA: Your standard McCain-Palin crowd of fanatics.
She hasn't read the whole bill, and here are her issues: 1) She believes the bill will ultimately force us into a single-payer system 2) She believes the bill will limit her freedom in choosing care 3) She believes we cannot afford to pay for nationalized healthcare 4) She doesn't trust the government to effectively manage medicine/insurance 5) She believes it is a step down a longer road to further socialism
lol @ everyone trying their hardest to rationalize away people who don't agree with healthcare. And the opposition is all YOUR fault. Its the fault of everyone who keeps saying we need socialized healthcare even if that is or isn't what is being proposed in the bills. People are just responding to what they perceive is happening.
