    Dear T-Mac,

I just wanted to drop you a line & let you know that I'm not real pleased with your decision to miss 3 weeks because your knee hurts, even though the doctors indicate you're not injured & just need to play through it. I don't mean to be mean about this, but it's not like this is the first time you've missed significant playing time. But, this time it appears to be you making the decision on your own. I'd be fired on the spot if I told my employer that I'm going to take 3 weeks off because I don't feel well.

I play ball too, but I play a different kind of ball than you do. My ball is green. It's more commonly called cash. With my ball, players like you can live the American Dream of being rich while playing a game. If I suddenly decide that I'm not going to play for 3 weeks here, 2 weeks there, etc., etc., then what happens to players like your's salaries? Who pays them? What if I decide, just because I feel a little cheated by an inferior product, that I'm going to start missing multiple games every year from here on out? Do you think that might have an impact on the high salaries & per-diem that are handed out in the NBA? You might not feel it at first, but you will eventually.

I & every player on this team look at you as the leader of the Rockets & yet, you continue to appear reluctant to embrace that role. I'll bet you didn't bother to mention that, when you signed that great big contract, did you? Leaders play through discomfort & set the example for everyone else to follow. When are you going to embrace the role of leader & start leading this team? When you sign that next big contract?

Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter. Someone else will have to step up again & fill the shoes you're being paid to fill. It's truely a shame though. We could sure put a lot of quality talent on this team with that $20+ million you're being paid with. Enjoy your holidays & don't worry about me getting laid off. I'll find a new job & keep bringing my green ball to the games. You see, I play ball even when I'm not 100%, because that's my job as the leader in the stands.

    Your's Truely, A Rocket's Fan

Well both Tmac and Yao haven't played alot of games in the past few seasons. Yao because of legit injuries. Tmac because it pains him to play through certain part of his body and he can't play through it. Do we see the difference?

A little weird and sarcastic..... but it gets the point across and I, too believe that T-Mac should suck it up and play like a man. We don't need this P**** BS

Listen to me, you twit. Tracy McGrady, limping through games, is not good for himself or the team. His knee is in pain, enough for him to not play at 100%. It is better for himself and the team to rehab and rest for the next 3 weeks, then return.

am I the only one who doesn't see this as that big a deal?

Its not like he reinjured it. He's just taking a break on company time.
    but
Its not like Mcgrady was doing all that much when he was playing anyway. He was camping outside shooting 3's. Isn't that what head does?

If mcgrady is able to come back and play halfway decent because his knee doesn't hurt so much then I'm for it. At any rate it hurt watching him gimp around out there.

With Battier back the team will get a lot smarter and maybe won't keep losing to the crappy teams they play this month. (hopefully)

That's not the issue. The issue is him doing this for like the past three seasons.

3 Weeks may seem long but I know its better to be now than later in the season; Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge TMac fan, but if he needed those time, he better make it worth it.

If he comes back playing like he didn't get rest, then I say trade him already.
I expect his comeback -- 3 weeks from now -- to be huge. I better see a leader-worthy player, an explosive player.
Then again, I maybe asking too much.

people, tmac isnt just sitting on his butt at home eating krispy kremes while his team is playing games, hes still rehabbing. everyone knew he would miss time this year, and its probably a blessing in disguise so younger guys can get confidence in games. its all about the playoffs, not december.

He said two weeks ago he is going to be fine with the injury if he got the ball more often, if I remember correctly.

Dude is not injured, he's shutting it down because its painful and limiting his performance. Again this is the softest schedule we're ever gonna have, and I'd rather have him do serious rehab rather than gimp his way all over the court. Its easy to make conclusions when you're not the one experiencing pain and soreness  I suggest you reserve judgement till he returns. If he comes back playing like crap then you are absolutely right. If he returns playing like an allstar, then you need to take back everything you wrote in your OP
