No matter what a person's opinion is of McGrady, we were fortunate to get him for essentially, Francis and Mobley. That was one of the few decisions management got right over the past decade! The question you should be asking yourself while getting frustrated over his McGradiness is where would we be now if we still had the infamous Francis/Mobley duo? Well, we can see what Francis is worth now, first hand. Meanwhile, Mobley is a reserve on possibly the worst team in the league. Hate T-Mac or love T-Mac but if you hate him, don't forget to be thankful we have his lazy, injury-prone, outside-shooting "you know what" as an option over the man formerly known as The Franchise and his worthless sidekick.
Chris Paul, and Deron Williams were drafted the one good season he gave us. Other than that, I don't hate him.
I don't hate T-Mac, but I am frustrated to think that we may just be good enough to semi-seriously contend year, but really never will have a shot at the championship. At least with Francis and Mobley, I don't have the stress of actually *believing* the Rockets can do anything. Much less stress that way...
Basically you think TMAC's deal hurt your health (at least psychologically). LOL. I suggest you to prosecute Rockets for some compensation, or BrooksBall might be able to do that.
yeah, that is right. I even had the dream of going to the semi-final. I know there are many factors leading us to the failure, but T-mac got be relatively a big part of it. I do like his talent, but if we want to go futher in the playoffs, trading him might be a good option though it appears that no other team could close this deal. So be it. Lets cheer him up. With less 'injury-prone' and strengthening 'mentality'(I do hope so), I do believe we will get the ticket to the playoffs(second round I mean ). I cant wait to see next game. It's been quite a few days without a Rox game. Bored...
this team was a lottery team... and heading towards more lottery before Tracie Mclazy came over... I was more than willing to put up with 50 loss seasons... since I knew it was going to take Yao atleast 3 to 5 years to develop.... in that time we could have drafted younger... and more athletic players to surround our 7'6 big stiff... instead we became a win now team... traded most of our youth... for older experienced players... maybe instead of Mclazy... wondering how it would have been with a young athletic team in Orlando... we should be wondering if some of those players might have been drafted by us.... for the Mclazy supporters... 11 years and counting... have I got some swamp land for you....mission accomplished!!!!
Wait...tell me what our record is without him? Also, I remember a little 21-12 stretch without our other superstar thanks to a certain player... I love how short all of your memories are.
Nobody said he isn't good or that the team has not struggled without him. All most of us "Tmac haters" want is for the guy to give his maximum effort since he gladly accepted maximum money. It's a real slap in the face to the fans, the team and the sport to accept the money and the responsibility that comes with it and then turn around and treat the job like he is a teenager at his first summer job.
Once again, I guess most of you have conveniently forgotten the fact that he played like a beast last season when Yao was out and led our team of total scrubs to a 21-12 record. Yeah, no effort whatsoever. The guy hurts his knee, and tons of you claim he is faking it. When it is proven that he is indeed injured (and I've had the same injury and it took 3 weeks for me to fully heal), you say he doesn't try. He tried to play with the injury. Does he drive to the hoop as much as he used to? No. I think the back worries will always be there to a small extent. Is he overpaid? Yes. But look at the salaries of a lot of other upper tier NBA players. Besides Kobe or Lebron or Wade, I can't think of another 2/3 I would rather have And no, I am not a TOF, in fact I like Yao better, but I just find it comical that Yao can't lead this team to victories without TMac yet TMac leads us to victories without Yao yet it appears this board hates the guy. Puzzling
Any way you spin it, it was a great trade, but I still think they shouldn't have given up Kelvin Cato. Cato played well beside Yao.
Correct. I'm not even speaking on this particular episode with him. It is the multiple issues that he has had over his career that point to him not giving 100%. As a fan and a ticket buyer that is unnacceptable to me when I see other superstars (including Yao) doing everything they can to win. If he wanted a regular 9-5 then he should give the money back to the Rockets and go get one.
hhhmmmm that is so strange. . but I don't think we were in the lottery the year before T-Mac came In fact I beleive we lost in the playoffs to a Laker Team that had 4 hall of famers on it Rocket River
We were first round losers then, we are first round losers now. Actually this year, we may not even get that priveledge. Se sucked hardcore back then. We suck bad now. Just because we suck a little less than we sucked back then, doesn't mean we don't suck. Results speak. Excuses are tired. The Rockets have not given their fans any results in 11 years. We are one of only 3 teams in the NBA that hasn't gotten past the first round in such a long time (There may be a few more. Feel free to correct me here.) In the end, I don't care anymore if we have Tracy, Francis, Mobley, or Tracy's mom playing. Without results they are going to consistently lose more and more fans that get tired of watching their lame act. I've stuck by them through thick and thin. I've had season tickets in the Francis years. But this year is just worse than any other year, and it's hard to keep caring about this team. They certainly don't seem to care on the court every game, so why should any of us fans care what they do? A lot of people like to blame the role players about our suckiness. For god's sake, people here blamed Matt Maloney for losing us the Utah series when we had Hakeem, Clyde, and Charles. Yup, it was Matt Maloney why we lost, and it's Rafer Alston as to why we're losing now. You live and die with your "superstars." Unfortunately for us, we have consistently died by them. Get rid of them, make them play harder, do anything. Make the fans care again, because right now this team SUCKS. P.S. Rob Scheneider said it best: "Oh no, we suck again!"
Are you saying Rox doomed to be a bad team? Or are you suggesting that Rox would have missed playoff more than once during last three years without T-Mac joining Rox? I don't see any improvement by getting T-Mac here except bigger disappointment for the fans.
