Posted this already in some random thread about how JVG sucks since the Rockets couldn't beat the Suns with both of their stars out, but it bears repeating if only in hopes the GARM will one day be a little less sucky than it is today. ============================================ This is a team built around two superstars, one of which is chronically subject to injury and the other of which broke his leg. And we are ten games over .500. Given all that, you're freaking out about losing to the two top teams in the league? And putting it on the coach that they gave up leads they never had any business having in the first place? You're ****ing idiots. Period. This team rules. If Mac's out, they rule. If Yao's out they rule. If BOTH are out, they're competitive with the best teams in the league. Do you think that happens with another coach? JVG has instilled a system and a defensive philosophy (and, surprisingly, an offensive philosophy) that survives the absence of one or the other star and even almost survives the absence of both -- against the top teams in the league -- and you want to call for his head. You're ****ing idiots. How well do you think the championship Lakers teams would have played without Shaq and Kobe? Or even without one of them? Well, we know. Without one or the other, they sucked. Without both, boy they sucked. What the Rockets have done this year (hell, what they did last night) ought to make JVG the coach of the year. If you don't get that, stop stinking up our board. Seriously. You suck. Love, Batman
people have unlimited wants, but they just dont realise that they have limited resources - economics 101
Battier would agree http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4482147.html the games mean nothing? damn happy those of you who think so don't play for the rockets, you deserved to be BOOED
I totally agree and when we get a healthy Yao and a healthy Mac, teams will be very afraid of us, we will go on a 12 game win streak.
Batman, I know we have history in the past; I completely agree with you. Its nice to see a postive thread with some merit by a respected poster. I coudn't have said it better myself.
Good job Batman- things are very good in Rocketland now. Only to get better when our big guns get back! Go Rockets!!
finally someone started a great thread... the hate on this bbs sometimes gets way out of control. bashing and blaming seems actually more important to some people here than basketball.
4 stars. I agree on almost everything except the lakers thing, well partly. In the prime years of Shaq, if Kobe would be out the Lakers were still a good team. Honestly without Shaq Kobe would have never even won a ring and Shaq would have won at least one. The thing i noticed on here is when i wasn't a member and the board was open for free i never noticed how much hate/idiots were on here. Anyway still the best forum i know.
While I agree that JVG is a good coach, I have said numerous times that I don't think he is a championship caliber coach. He does get his players to play hard, but his offensive sets are junior high level, and even though his defense is good, it is easy to beat over a series as it is really predictable on the rotations. And, I think his substitution patterns are horrible and it wears our team out. I have never liked JVG as a coach, still don't, but will happily eat crow if I am proven wrong. And, clearly the Rockets brass agrees with me, otherwise, JVG would have an extension to his contract.....which he doesn't. DD
Very subtle post. I do agree, we are a great team. But people should not expect us to beat the top teams without Both Yao and T-mac.
JVG has done a very good job this year and most of the complainers are idiots. For them, JVG can do nothing right and any loss is turned into an anti-JVG vent session. My concern with JVG the entire season is our all-Yao all-the-time offense. When Yao gets back, we must allow the other players to continue the flow that has been developed in Yao's absence. If that happens, this team can do some damage in the playoffs.
Okay Batman riddle me this. If he is the coach of the year this year then what about last year. Remember we were a lottery team last year and Yao was playing phenomenal down the stretch and all we could do is lose with JVG. Did he improve as a coach in his old balding age. The reality is that Luther and Howard are playing better, Mutombo has found the fountain of youth and Battier's defense and, leadership and hustle is much, much more valuable than anyone realizes. Actually Battier alone is probably the biggest difference. Yes as talented as Yao and Tmac are they are doers more than leaders but Battier is both and he does it in so many ways. You know all that intangible stuff that everyone jokes about but it is very true. That being said JVG is a very good defensive coach... I think we've established that much on this board. But let's not get carried with KINGDOM yet. Also just because he is a good coach doesn't mean I have to like him.
