I was watching Deandre and no that he slipped because he was a backup for Texas A&M and they were questioning his heart. Well I was at attendance at the summer league game and somebody came to the hole and he threw it and said get that sh_t! Out of here. He had some massive dunks, a jump hook and was snagging rebounds with passion.

He didn't slip because he had no heart, he slipped because a lot of GMs thought he didn't know how to play basketball..

haha ... I watched every game and DeAndre was a backup because he has not yet learned to play basketball. He will have a good game one time and then be absolutely awful another game. He is often out of position on defense, and he has no offensive game. FT shooting is below Shaqs level.

The good thing: Almost all of that can be taught and eventually I hope he can put it all together and utlize the things that he has that can't be taught. He can be a very good player in the NBA if he works hard. He has a ways to go though and that is why no GM wanted to stake his future on this project. GMs that draft projects are not around to see whether the player pans out or not.

You guys now how I feel about Deandre Jordan. He is the 2nd coming of Kelvin Cato only crappier. Nobody even likes the guy. I don't even think he has friends. Coaches, teammates, fans, they all hate the guy. The one time I saw him attempt to make a basketball move he sprained his ankle, fell to the floor in pain, and we wound up losing (Tech). Reminded me of Stromile Swift like absurdity.

Ya man, imagine Sikma trying to teach him some pivot moves. DJ would be out for the season.

I think his best comparison is a bigger and taller Stromile Swift. He has the tools but I doubt he will ever figure out how to use them all properly, but for a late second round pick, the Clippers got a steal.

I remember seeing him play in a pickup game over at the rec. He was a good foot taller than anyone else on the floor, but he was getting out rebounded and pushed out of the paint on a consistent basis. The only time he really did anything was after a guy crossed him over for a layup... he just began running to the basket and dunking it after that. If he can play like that then he has a chance to become a good basketball player.

Don't forget this is the SUMMER LEAGUE. He isn't going against every day NBA players, like he will once the regular season comes around. Big deal, he got some rebounds and massive dunks. Is that anything new?

i've mentioned before that my wife works with his father, has been for seven years so I root for him. however he just has no offensive game. the kelvin cato comparison is more apt then stromile. stromile's issue was purely motivation, stromile has a good offensive game. deandre like cato needs to just focus on rebounding and defense as of now to build up some value, hopefully he develops some kind of shot like a jump hook.

DeAndre had one good game for A&M. He absolutely murdered Colorado. That's it. Only Colorado.

    Stromile Swift V 0.5

To be fair, he actually had one of his best games against UCLA. That said, he had many more games where he looked completely lost against average competition.

The guy is the definition of a "project". Not a bad deal as a 2nd rounder for the Clips. No risk, high reward.
