We've reached a handshake agreement. His dad said the contract won't be signed until early August.

At Fonde yesterday the announcer said John Lucas just signed 3 yrs with the Rockets while he was playing, not theres really any credibility in the play by play announcer.

JL3 played well yesterday too, BTW.

He was on a team with TJ Ford, Daniel Ewing, Gerald Green, Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Terrance Morris

They had him mostly running point, he was very consistent with his 3 pt shot and pushed the ball very well, he just mis-targeted a few alley oop passes a few times but I'm sure he won't try that as much in the NBA.

Because JVG will glue his butt to the bench if he does anything creative. Anyone remember how good and creative a passer Yao was his rookie season? You sure don't see that anymore.

Back in the day, John Lucas was the absolute best there ever was at tossing an ally oop pass. Maybe JLIII can take some lessons from him.

I don't think it's much more than the minimum. We had to use part of the MLE though because it is three years.

I don't know for sure but I think even after JLIII is signed that we will still have between 2 and 3mil of the MLE left.

I still remember how they were some people here who were trying to convince me, others, and most importantly, themselves, that T-MO aka Terrance Morris was either a good NBA player or was going to be a good NBA player. I sure hope and pray that the Rockets are not looking at bringing him back. There are many things he can't do well with shooting at the top of that list.

Well one good thing about JL3 that I did like is that he is extremely quick but not flashy at all. He makes his decisions fast and doesn't hold on to the ball longer than he should. On another note, Stevie Franchise played in the game before JL3's and brought back some not so good memories.

Alley oops with the timing of having played with the guy(s) helps avoid Fonde oops'.

I'll admit I wanted T-Mo. I thought he would have a Tayshaun Prince-type resurrection in the NBA. Both started their college careers off with a bang, leading to the media portraying them as all-world players in the future. They sort of fizzled towards the end of college, but still had loads of potential.

Yes, JVG has ruined Yao. He is a shell of his former self.

Could it be that the reason for the delay in signing JLIII is because if we ink him now, he comes out of the MLE whereas if we use the MLE, we can sign him using the minimum later? Not for sure how that works, maybe somebody with CBA knowledge can comment.

Why are the arguments always one-sided? Anyone remember how weak and impotent Yao was on the interior and how often he got his stuff swatted?

I agree, how can people say Van Gundy ruined Yao, and then turn around and say Yao is a beast. Also as for Yao's passing, his assists will go way up once he gets shooters that can hit open shots. Hopefully, battier and novak can help that this year. Plus with a healthy tmac and if head keeps improving Yao should be somewhere near 24, 11, and 5 this year.

The arguments are one-sided because either you love or hate JVG. Most posters here are on one extreme or the other. Maybe a few fall in the middle, but you get my point.

Yao's passing ability left with Rudy-T. Maybe JVG told Yao he'd bench him if Yao passed out of the post to much. Do you guys remember if Ewing ever passed out of the post much?
