It is a great deal, but shows you how few copies of Madden they sold this year.

Yeah, they have this pretty much every year. It's a great deal aside from having to call back once you get your subscription started to cancel the auto-renewal... I did it for Madden 10 when Madden 10 first came out and it was $49. This deal at first used to be $60 for Madden + SI... plus 3-6 weeks of wait for the "gift" shipment, so I passed on it.

It was the first year that I went out and bought NCAA football a week after I bought Madden.

I seem to recall a somewhat in-depth analysis of Madden sales after we got the last month's sales, though I didn't really pay attention to it. Not sure where to find it again.

But at least for PS3/360 numbers, I think sales have been about the same compared to 2009. Maybe a bit better actually (PS3 sales saw a nice increase). For reference (going to use some old NPD thread from NeoGAF):

August 2010 seemed a bit better than August 2009. September numbers seem pretty close, but can't tell for sure (thanks to the new NPD policy).

But that does factor in only the 360 and PS3 versions. I'm almost 100% sure that PS2 sales dropped quite a bit this year, which might explain the rise in Madden PS3 sales. The increases in the PS3/360 versions might be offset by drops for the other versions.
