I think i heard this after the draft on espn news. somebody said the deal could not be completed until i think july 1st because of something in SF's contract, and because the Magic are over the cap. can anyone confirm this???
Yes, it's not really news though if you slog through the five thousand Mcgrady posts. If they do finally get this deal done soon, they can still announce it but won't technically make the trade until July 1st or 15th, whichever the real day is(there's been confusion over this detail).
Several sources stated that Francis' byc status was NOT an issue and that the deal could go through before the 1st.
It was a while back. Basically, there are two minor variations of the deal, which accounts for Steve's status. The variation that's been circulated is the one we can make before July 1. I'm guessing some lesser players might get added/dropped if the deal was take place afterwards. In another words, it's not a big deal.
