Yes! It's an awesome game. I got around to playing it last year and loved it. This one is supposed to pick up where the last one left off so I think playing the first one would be a good thing.
I still need to finish the first one. It's one of the few games that has thoroughly freaked me out at times. I'm on Chapter 5 with only 6 rounds left on my plasma cutter and less than one full fuel canister for my flamethrower. The nearest shop to buy ammo is very far away from me, so I just have to hope I find more ammo. I just hope Dead Space 2 will keep the same level of tension and dread that the first one has. Oh, and smoother PC controls for DS2 also.
As a last resort, you could use the Statis Recharge cheat to slow everything down on your way to the shop. Sure that sort of defeats the purpose of a survival horror game, but like I said...last resort.
Is anyone else currently playing this game? I got it on release day and though I haven't had as much time to play as I'd like, I think I'm about half way through now. So far, so good.
I just beat the game on Zealot difficulty a few days ago; took me a total of about 10 hours. Great game. I'd say it's just as good as the first one. Right now, I'm just trying to complete all the achievements. I hear they're going to release a few more chapters as DLC soon.
Yeah, I've got the PC version and played through it once. I've got to say that it's a lot of fun to play. I would be playing through it again now if it wasn't for some of the bugs in the PC version. For example, none of the bonus suits you get for beating the game unlock properly (except for the Riot RIG). All the Elite RIG schematics you're supposed to find in New Game+ are missing. Also, Hard Core mode is bugged so you can't get the reward for beating it either. Visceral already confirmed the bugs a couple of days after release and said they're working on a patch. Since then, nothing else has been said. Oh yeah, and PC users don't even get the option of DLC. That's such BS for Dead Space fans on the PC. Sorry for the little rant. Other than that, I'm really liking Dead Space 2.
Soon as I'm done with DC universe, I'll go and pick this bad boy up.. How is the Multiplayer on this sombitch????
Bought the first one. Played for maybe 2 minutes until the first thing came running at me. Screamed. Haven't played since.
I've played it through on Easy, Normal, and Survivalist difficulties. Now that my Clarke is nice and built up, I'm going to start on Zealot. I don't know about Hardcore Mode, but I do like the reward if you actually manage to complete it. I love the game and I like Issac having a voice in this one. Makes him more relateable. Plus, on a purely videogame nerd perv opinion, Ellie's easier to look at than Nicole. Oh yeah, the shoutout to the end of 1 during the closing cinematic to 2 made me laugh a bit.
Haha, same here. Vanity, I haven't even entered the code yet to play for multiplayer. I bought the game purely for it's single player campaign.
I made it to Chapter 10 tonight, where you... Spoiler have to go back aboard the Ishimura, and the atmosphere is incredible. The way everything is dressed up from the restoration efforts is amazing, and I get a genuine feeling that I really don't want to be back there. Which is why I found it so creepy when Nicole's voice said, "You can pretend to not be bothered...but being here rattles you, doesn't it, Isaac? All this plastic and tape covering the scars, trying to hide the blood and the bodies so no one will ever know. But you remember what happened, no matter how deeply you try to bury it." Because that's exactly how I feel about it.
