Does anyone know of a poster who passed away (as opposed to being kicked or to just stop posting)?

I understand it would be hard to know because it would require that someone knows another poster in real life and knows that he was posting here, but are there any known cases?

    I've always wondered this.

Just in case anyone was wondering, Major is still alive. :)

SJC, I'm a big admirer of yours, and I know what spurred you into starting this thread, but was it really necessary?

Thanks for the kind words. Perhaps not, it was just a thought that was going through my head. If it is considered tasteless to ask the question, mods please feel free to delete this thread.

No kidding, this is a bizarre and morbid topic. I understand it stems from the popeye thread, but still it's a little off-putting for some reason.

I don't think it was in bad taste or anything.

Maybe rename the thread title. Dead posters sounds so tasteless, I guess, even though I know SJC didn't mean any harm.

If there are any dead posters then why not honor them. How many times have the award shows honored their peers who have passed on.

I'm sure there is a SJC in those production meetings that brings up the subject pretty frequently.

Heh, no need to apologize. There's nothing really wrong, just weirder than most of the weirdness that goes on here. :)

How about, "Active Members Who Post Like They've Croaked?"
Maybe, "Brain Dead Posters... Who Are They?"
Or... "Moonbeam Jackson... is he Possessed by the Devil??"

Then there could be, "heypartner... the Return?"

Can't wait 'till someone has it in their will for their lawyer or family member to go to Clutchfans and start a thread to let everyone know what happened to them.

    :)

Having that added to your will does not mean that you've passed away. Humor at the idea of it being in the will, not the passing of a poster.

I'll be sure to have my wife inform everyone of my demise and, in the event that our deaths are simultaneous, my brother will have to send an email in.

Well, another reason why I had this idea was that a member and moderator of the other forum I visit (www.flyertalk.com) shot himself some time ago and it came out that he was actually a huge fraudster. This led to heated discussions on the site as some lashed out against him and some said it was tasteless to speak ill of the deceased.

His user name on that site was bwatson.
