I can't believe this! What a wuss. I guess Oscar's goin' back to singing! PUNK!! EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Oscar De La Hoya, the WBC super welterweight champion, has changed his mind about fighting Fernando Vargas on Dec. 8, Vargas' promoter said. Gary Shaw, chief operating officer of Main Events, said he was informed of De La Hoya's decision Thursday by telephone with Howard Rose of Univision, De La Hoya's promoter. The fight, however, had been contingent on Vargas beating Jose Flores of Mexico for the vacant WBA super welterweight title on Sept. 22. ``I am confused and disappointed in De La Hoya's decision,'' Shaw said. ``We had agreed to terms and were just waiting for the attorneys to iron out the final details. There were no outstanding issues.''
I heard on the radio that he was withdrawing because he was going to fight Suger Shane Mosley, possibly in Nov. This fight will probably get him more money. b*stard!
I think that De La Hoya will have a tough time against Sugar Shane. But personally I think that Trinidad is the Best Pound for Pound fighter. If he (Tito) fought either Mosley or Roy Jones Jr., that would be a fight for the ages.
