Well last week, we discussed the state of the Rockets, and since I did not want to do an angry weekly update, I decided to focus on trades. I am not sure what happened to the audio it is about a second ahead of the video, wish I could fix it, but it is right on my home machine, so not sure what Youtube did to it, or how to adjust it. So, gonna go ahead and publish it. I have it down to under 5 minutes...... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f8VxSP8sFPc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f8VxSP8sFPc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> If you are interested in doing one with me PTI style email me through the boards. Enjoy it, and if not...be kind. DD
LOL, Very good DD, I pretty much agree with your analysis on these players and what they would bring to the Rockets. Your'e pretty good at this and look forward to more video posts.
Thanks for your show. i like it very much. i haven't spent much time on all four potential possible trades. one trade that would not help us much is the pg trade. as long as tmac on the team, he will step on some pg's toes. ironically, if tmac doesn't have ball, what he is useful to rox in the way he plays the bball?
I used to agree with you on Maggette. But after a couple weeks watching Warriors games closely, he just seems like another selfish player. One can make the argument that he's trying to get out of Golden State and that's the reason for his selfishness and that could be a possibility. But, judging from the games I've seen and not speculating on the what ifs, once he catches the ball he either forces a shot for himself, forces a drive, before he looks to pass it away. I've been preaching for a player of Maggette's caliber, one who drives to the rim fearlessly and goes to the line. But, how well would he fit in this team? I think you'll see the same problems that Ron has. I just don't trust Maggette's basketball IQ to understand the proper spacing that Yao needs, when to swing the ball for the open shot, and when to pick his spots in his drives. Maggette is a talented player and we need someone who'll lower his head and draw the foul, but I am turned off by his lack of BB IQ and his unwillingness to give the ball up in certain situations. I watched last week's game against the Suns and I just couldn't believe it. I was utterly disgusted with the kind of game Maggette played. There's a difference in looking at the box score of the game and imagining what it's like to be with him on the court.
Great vid, DD. I very much like the idea of CM. He attacks the rim often and moving well w/o the ball.
I like that DD. I agree of course. Btw what is going on? I have been writing to you on Skype for few days but you are not available.
I agree with most of your analysis, except for Maggette. I think Maggette just seems like another Artest-type with better handles. I think its more important to have better help defender in the paint then what we have seen from Scola and Landry.
i agree completely about hinrich and amare. however i dont think mike miller would give us much help. he's looking awefull this year while playing off of a dominant big (jefferson) who was supposed to create a lot of open looks for a great shooter.
Kirk Hinrich- seems to be an upgrade over Rafer, but only slightly IMO. Plus, that depreciating 10 mil contract is still a lot of money. How long is that contract? If it's long term, I would say NO to this deal. Corey Maggette- an even bigger NO to him. You mentioned that the Rockets have too talent spread out among the wing players, so why would it improve our team trading one of them for another one? Also, there is no way Maggette is tougher than Ron Artest, and Corey in his own right is a notorious jumpshooter himself. Amare Stoudemire- good player, but I don't want him the same reason you said: Scola and Landry are already a productive combo at his position. Mike Miller- for now, this may seem like a good trade to make. A plus is that Tmac and Miller are best buddies from their Magic days. But I can't help but look back to last year, when people were wanting to trade for Miller as much as we were wanting Artest. Before the season started, you can say both players had equal value. My point is that even though Miller seems like a better player at the moment, what makes you think he'll play any better than Artest is playing now with the Rockets? I mentioned this in another thread, saying that any player coming on the Rockets will experience a drop in their production because Yao and Tmac are the head of this team. So we can't expect his 17, 18 pts./game he had with the Grizzlies (and btw he's having a terrible year currently with the Wolves scrub team). Morey is in a bind right now because you really have to ask yourself if the Rockets really would get any better with a trade.
