Well, not sure about my notebook camera, but I am here in Santa Monica, about 2 blocks from the beach, and thinking about the Rockets. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/KmRGUQV9vbk&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/KmRGUQV9vbk&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> Road trips are hard, but with wine, steak, and a good Hilton style of bed, I am just able to get by..... DD's Rocket talk will be back next week in it's regularly scheduled time, with sobering analysis, this one.....not so sober. Hey at least it is short. DD
lol that was awesome and I agree with you 100% Has anyone ever walked in on you while your doing this? Taht would be awkward
Your videos crack me up. Funny stuff and more importantly I agree with you about us being better this year. Ron can make up for Mcgrady's scoring, why you ask? Ron may not put up as many points but he is more efficient than Tracy is and the more efficient the better. I disagree about Rafer being better on offense. Aaron is a far superior offensive player, and I actually think he is underrated defensively. He tries hard and has gotten better at fighting through picks. Scola has vastly improved and our 3 point shooting is better this year. Obviously are playoff success depends on Yao stepping up. If he can step up, I dont think we will be very easy to take down. And say we play the lakers. I have faith Brooks and Yao will give them a whole lot of trouble. Contain Odom and Kobe and we should be ok. It helps having Shane and Ron . That is all
I agree with you. Didn't I say Rafer was bad on offense? Agreed, onwards and upwards, now where is my wine ? DD
dude man if you were catholic, you would definately have to give up clutchfans for lent.... Im not sure if you could make it past 5 hours (excluding sleep of course)
another great job DD!! I do want to have your opinion on the point I make below... As bad as Rafer is on offense, he and Scola built a nice rapport in the recent games prior to the trade. The pick n roll/pick n pop play was ran to perfection. Rafer was racking up assists and Scola was racking up points and the Rockets were racking up wins. They're still racking up wins with Rafer gone and Brooks at the helm (now 9-1 as a starter ), but I feel for the Rox to continue to do well and to go deep in the playoffs Brooks and Scola need to develop a similar rapport as Scola did with Rafer. To be more specific, watching the game against Dallas and Portland, the Rockets, as usual, somewhat sputtered at the end of what were two very close games. If it were not for Brooks' duo of backbreaking threes in Dallas, we may have very well lost that game. Yao is what he is, a great player that can sometimes fade out at the end of games due to fatigue, tighter D, worse officiating, etc. He's obviously option #1. But, when times get tough, team will negate option #1, forcing the Rockets to look for other options on offense, as we saw against Dallas and Portland. This is where Brooks seems a little lost offensively (ie: what to do when Yao is unable to get the ball). So, getting back to the whole Rafer and Scola thing...the Scola-Brooks pick n roll/pick n pop play needs to be our option #2. It is way more efficient than letting Ron go 1 on 1 or Brooks go 1 on 1. However, the thing is that Aaron seems hesitant to immediately pass the ball to scola when the defender hedges on the screen. Maybe it's a height factor or a distrust factor I don't know. But, Aaron needs to start thinking more like a point guard in those situations rather than looking to score off a pick. Again, this may not sound like a pressing need to many people because they're quick to point out that the Rox are winning, but I'm the sort of guy that sees problem areas and think if they can become major problems in the future. Obviously, not knowing what to do when you can't get the ball to Yao will be a big problem come 4th quarter in the playoffs. Sorry, for the long post, but what do you think DD?
While Scola is better this year, and Brooks is marginally improved...this team is not anything beyond 2nd round unfortunately. Brooks isn't an upgrade over rafer. For his speed and quickness, his defense is terrible. He has a worse Assist to TO ratio than Allen Iverson. And he shoots at a barely passable clip from 3 pt land - a key in a big man oriented offense. Lowry is actually worse in that area and fouls like a maniac. There are things to like, but I don't think the rafer trade was wise. Rafer might not have been the answer, but neither is Aaron Brooks. This team still showed us against Portland that when a good team decided to clamp up it's defense and make adjustments, our offense sputters.
No, different camera, and different headset.....on the road you know, we have to pack it in tight, me and the crew....uh...me....I mean. Dunno, what did you think of it? DD
Well I think his 3 pt shooting numbers are a bit misleading. He just came out of a ridiculous 2 month slump. Since then he's been consistently hitting between 40-50% of his 3 pt attempts. There's no question about it he's a better 3 pt shooter than Rafer. As for assist to TO ratio I think you should remember he's only played as a starter with this team as constructed for like 3 games. Give that time. He has infinately higher upside than Rafer. The offense sputtered because Portland started fronting Yao. The gameplan down the stretch is to go to Yao and when we couldn't we struggled. I've seen taht happen with Rafer on the floor too many times to think that would have been different with him. They just need to work that out in practice.
Why is the WCF unreasonable? We are better than we were last year, or we will be once this team has fully hit its stride. The Spurs have no answer for Yao, yet we have proven many of times that we can contain the Parker,Manu, Ginobli trio. I dont see why the second round has to be everyone's expectation it certainly isnt mine. I doubt the team is thinking about just the second round as their goal this year. Our team has heart, we play defense, our offense is getting better, and for the first time this year, we know whose going to play and who isnt. I think Von Wafer could be our X-FACTOR this postseason run. He has proven he can score with minutes. For all we know he might be the guy to take his game to a new level in the playoffs. Have faith!
Hey DD, when I was in Santa Monica, I ate at this place. it was pretty good http://www.thecounterburger.com/
DD, I commend your eternal optimism on everything Rockets. I wish I could always be that positive (Playoffs? No way! ). My only suggestions would be to stop referring to yourself in the 3rd person and tagging all your posts with "DD" (roughly 50,000 posts x 2 characters = 100,000 unnecessary characters). Do those things and you're good to go. Other than that, you have a striking resemblance to a young John Madden.
I know you have no bad intent, dude, and it's not that big of a deal but I've seen a lot of other people make that same suggestion in my short time around here so it's not just me. You're not breaking any rules so it's your call, obviously. Other than that, props for taking your passion for the Rockets to the next level. Keep up the good work. High five! (Borat voice)
